After reviewing the different multiple intelligences, I have come to the conclusion that my strongest intelligence is the interpersonal one. I also completed an assessment from my first web site www.literacyworks.org that also concluded that my strongest one is in fact, the social or interpersonal intelligence. Chapter two of our text describes the interpersonal intelligence to be, the ability to relate to others, noticing their moods, motivations, and feelings (social activity, cooperative learning, and team work) The first web site I visited was www.literacyworks.org. I first completed the assessment to reassure myself that I had chosen the strongest one for me from our text. After I completed the assessment it directed me to a page describing my results, which were, social or interpersonal intelligence. This web site reinforced that interpersonal was the strongest choice for me. A few thing mentioned on this site about this intelligence were, that these people love to talk, have good social skills, and like to learn from others. All of those statements fit me perfectly. The second site I visited was www.Idpride.net/learningstyles. This web site had even more information than the first one I visited. This web site had one statement that didn’t fit my personality. It said, “People who fall into the interpersonal intelligence group are great organizers.” I have a lot of skills but organization isn’t one of them. All of the other statements this site made about interpersonal intelligence fit me to a tee. One that really caught my attention was, “these people generally try to maintain the peace in group settings.” I find myself doing this a lot at work and among my group of friends. Another interesting thing this site said was that sometimes these people may resort to manipulation. I am going to have to start paying attention to my characteristics to see if I ever…...

Checkpoint Week 8

...Week 8 Checkpoint Threat Categorization Torrey D Boyer IT/240 August 7, 2013 The world of technology is threatened each day by malicious viruses and worms that can cripple an entire company. I will explain how each virus or worm functions and spreads through computer systems. Boot Sector - is a virus that is spread by floppy disk. The disk is left in the drive with the virus and will spread to the C: drive during the next boot sequence. File – is a virus that corrupts the computers executable files on a network. When the file is opened, the virus overwrites it and causes damage to the infected file. Multipartite – is a virus that uses the boot sector to move quickly, infecting both the boot sector and the executable files at the same time. This makes the virus very dangerous because just by turning on the computer, the virus latches onto the hard disk and broadcasts malicious payloads throughout the program files. Macro – is a virus that affects files that contain macro codes in them that is interpreted by an application. They are commonly spread by electronic emails. Trojan horse – is a program that seems to be functioning normally but has a hidden malicious virus in it, and by accessing the system or computer, can corrupt the authorizations. ...| | Checkpoint: Psychotherapy Psychotherapy is helping him or her discover their minds nature and inner workings. This is done by processing their three regions of consciousness; the id, the ego, and the super ego. Sigmund Freud developed his theory (psychodynamics) through the process of identifying four characteristics that diagnosed mentally ill patients. This process included dream analysis, association, and transference. Psychologists, who used humanistic-existential, work with surmounting disturbances-effecting their functioning. This theory did not focus on the past like psychodynamic theory but instead focuses on patient centered therapy. The behavioral psychologist will employ a method of conditioning by assisting in surmounting personal fears and obstacles from their personality traits. The four characteristics are also known as essentials; fear reduction, aversive conditioning, bio-feed back, and operant conditioning to help patients. The Behavior therapist implements procedures that they deem appropriate for allowing a patient to learn through application of trials to overcome their problem. Cognitive psychologists work to change a patient’s way of thinking to help them overcome their problems. They instruct ways to retrain positive thinking, adaptive thinking, and progressive thought to treat their patients. Cognitive is intended in a more rational and emotional way to help behavior patterns (away from irrational patterns). Biomedical treatments are a bit......

Week 8 Checkpoint 1 Xacc/280

...CheckPoint Impacts of Unethical Behavior XACC/280 March 11, 2014 The company that I chose to research is Tyco International. Tyco International was involved in an unethical behavior many years ago. Suspicions came up about there being some wrongdoings being done in the accounting department, and there was. At this point an investigation began; after a few years of investigation, in 2002 it was announced that Dennis Kozlowski (Tyco’s former CEO) , Mark Swartz (Tyco’s former CFO), and Mark Belnick (Tyco’s chief legal officer )had taken a total of over $170 million in unauthorized loans from Tyco for their personal uses. These unauthorized loans were all noted as bonuses which the three men seemed to think that no one would ever notice this suspicious activity. If I had been an accountant for this company, I would have reported to whomever I would have had to about my suspicions as soon as I noticed that something indeed was not right about the numbers, because when it comes to business and in life in general I am all about being ethical and doing the right thing. I believe that the criminals in this scandal got the charges that they deserved overall. I am not sure if anything could have really been done to prevent this tragic scandal, but I would just give the company the advice to keep tabs on all of their employees including CEOs and the men and women who may be higher up in the company. I’m sure that this was done on computers so; I would say that keeping tabs on......

Week 8 Checkpoint: Jetblue & Westjet, a Tale of Two Is Projects

...Week 8 Checkpoint: JetBlue &and WestJet: A Tale of Two IS Projects IT205 April 11, 2014 Week 8 Checkpoint: JetBlue & WestJet: A Tale of Two IS Projects The reservation system at airlines is the heart of the customer interaction and these systems helps guide the customers through the process of shopping for flights and lets the customers see what seats are available on that flight and then if they find what they want they can go ahead and pay for the tickets right then. Customers use the reservation systems to make the reservations, change reservations, or cancel reservations. They also can select specific seats on their flights, check the bags, and utilizing the kiosks located at the airports to print out boarding passes. The benefits of upgrading the system would by far outweigh any of the risk once the implementation is completed. The highest risk would be the loss of customers, this would stand true for both WestJet and JetBlue Airlines. JetBlue helped to minimize their risks when WestJet decided to be the first to upgrade and implement. WestJet went live in October of 2009 and it was horrible. They had not evaluated everything thoroughly and it showed. The bottom line is the risks involved is customer service being affected in anyway. WestJet was the first to undertake the upgrade and implementation. Their customers were having major issues with the reservation services which caused their call centers to get flooded with calls. The influx of customers......

Week 8 Checkpoint Jetblue and Westjet

...JetBlue and Westjet: A Tale of Two IS Projects Week 8 Checkpoint Case Study Questions By: Cicely Sawin 3/21/2014 IT/205 Catherine Williams Over the past years, customers have been heavily relying on airline reservation systems to book their tickets, reserve seats, pay for the tickets and also check-in online. For customers, this has been a very convenient method and they are able to easily plan their trips. For the Airline companies, these systems have the whole flight inventory managed. They have all the flight information stored and records are maintained. It also provides a platform for communication between other airline companies for their “code-sharing plans” and agents or other ticketing offices can see real time information about the bookings and availability of seats. Since both parties rely on these systems they are of big importance to airline companies. For example, we see in the case of WestJet, the amount of chaos created after a delay of switch to another version of the system. Airline reservation systems have impacted operational activities and decision making. They have made it easier to maintain accounts with other airlines and internal processes between departments are more efficient since the “minus, plus” is done online. There has also been growth in faster service times which leads to increased customer satisfaction since customers can plan, book and pay online. Airline companies are able to make good......

Week 2 Checkpoint

...Week 2 Checkpoint/Organizational Data and Information Daniel Barr XBIS/219 July 6, 2012 Shawn Rieder Week 2 Checkpoint/Organizational Data and Information Based on the information located on the BIRT Sample Database website, the software allows the user the ability to track many aspects of the defined business. It includes eight different tables. Offices, employees, customers, orders, order details, payments, products, and product lines. By using this software program the user can generate reports based on the data entered. The website also includes an ER-diagram which shows the different departments or types of data and how they are tied to other departments. The software allows for data to be entered by multiple sources, such as different stores and incorporates that data and combines that information to give the company a better picture of the entire company. Of course, information generated by data entry is only as good as the data entered. It is critical that companies train employees to correctly enter data into the system. Incorrect data entered into the system will generate reports that will not be accurate. There are several options available for companies. One option would be to purchase software for data management. Another option which is steadily growing is hiring a firm to store your data as well as manage the data as well.
