D2 Evaluate the financial performance and position of Alfresco’s business using suitable Ratio analysis.

In this assignment I will be evaluating the financial performance and position of Alfresco’s business using suitable ratio analysis.

Firstly, by looking at the ratios, I am able to see that the organization is improving their ROCE, as the figures are shown to have doubled within the financial year from 46% in 2014 to 92% in 2015. This is able to suggest that the organization is generating a Net Profit of 92 pence for every £1 invested which also illustrates that the business is performing well compared to the average businesses as the Industry average states that the average ratio for the ROCE is 38%.

The Gross Profit margin of the organization between the years 2013-2015 is seen to be better than that of the Industry Average (36%). However, the organizations Gross Profit margin is seen to have decreased by 3% in 2015 compared to the margin of 2014- which demonstrates that the organization is performing better than the Industry Averages but isn’t performing to its expectations due to the decrease during in the financial year of 2015.

The Net Profit of the organization is shown to have decreased between the years 2013-2015 where the Net Profit is shown to have fallen 19% between the financial years. This is able to illustrate that the organizations expenses could possibly be expanding over the years, which as a result is causing the costs to be high and resulting into the decrease in profits. The Net Profit of the organization between the years is also lower than the Industry average (38%), which is able to imply the organization isn’t generating as much Net Profit as they should be.

The Stock Turnover of the organization is shown to have increased over the years, as the stock turnover in 2015 is 29 more days compared to 2013. 2013 and 2014 shows…...

...Unit 6 Lab 1: DNA Fingerprinting Arielle Chambers Ms. A. Wain ITT Technical Institute SC 2730 9 February 2015 1. What kinds of patient samples are used for the purpose of identifying possible pathogens? a. Fluid from lymph nodes b. Stool sample c. Urine sample d. Blood sample e. Sputum sample 2. What does PCR do, how does it work, and why is it useful? PCR is also known as the Polymerase Chain Reaction, it is a fast and inexpensive way to amplify small segments of DNA (genome.gov). PCR works by amplifying a segment of DNA, the sample is heated first the DNA denatures, or separates into two pieces of single-stranded DNA (genome.gov). After that an enzyme called Taq polymerase synthesizes builds two new strands of DNA, it uses the original strands as templates (genome.gov). The process results in the duplication of the original DNA, each of the new molecules contain one old and one new strand of DNA (genome.gov). Each of these strands can be used to create two new copies, and so on, and so on. The cycle of denaturing and synthesizing new DNA is repeated as many as 30 or 40 times, leading to more than one billion exact copies of the original DNA segment (genome.gov).The entire cycling process of PCR is automated and can be completed in just a few hours. It is directed by a machine called a thermo cycler; it is programmed to alter the temperature of the reaction every few minutes to allow DNA denaturing and synthesis (genome.gov). PCR is......

Unit 39 - D2

...Unit 39 - D2 A risk assessment is an important step in protecting residents and staff as well as complying with the law. The assessment helps focus on the risks that have the potential to cause harm and in this context, from the harm of acquiring an infection. In most instances, straightforward measures can readily control risks e.g. ensuring that clean and dirty linen are segregated to prevent cross contamination. The law does not expect that all risks will be eliminated, but requires that all steps that are reasonably practicable are taken to protect residents. The risk assessment is simply a careful examination of what could cause harm to residents in the workplace, including the risk of infection so that an assessment can be made on whether enough precautions have been taken to prevent harm.To assess the risks in a care home you must; Identify the hazards, decide who might be harmed and how, evaluate the risks and decide on precautions, record the findings by communicating and implementing them and finally review the assessment and update if necessary. In many organisations, the risks are well known and the necessary control measures are easy to apply. In some smaller organisations, managers are often confident of understanding what is involved, and do the assessment themselves. In larger organisations, a health and safety advisor, or infection prevention and control advisor is sometimes brought in to help. In all cases, care staff should be involved in the process....

We have been recently approach by a Jordanian soft drink manufacturer that is smaller in size and has no experience in the global market. ...Evaluate the impact on the cultural differences Cadbury’s has faced having traded in chosen country. (D2) I will be evaluating some problems which Cadburys have face in regards to cultural differences. I will be looking at a number of problems and issues which Cadburys have faced when going to do business in India for instance their belief systems, language, environmental systems and so on. Language When Cadburys enters India, they must make sure that at least one of Cadburys representatives must know Hindi (India’s common language). even though the most common language used in the world of international business is English, India have an incredibly low command of the English language, so it becomes very helpful when there’s a member of staff that speaks the language. It’s in Cadburys best interest to attain the best deals, create agreements and form negotiations and without a common language this can become very difficult and result to mislead information and translators are very costly. When operating in India, language could also be incorporated with the human resource sector of business. The language amongst management and employees needs to be the same no matter if it’s transferring staff or local staff, or else human resources activities will not be able to function at all. It is also crucial that Cadburys label there goods in a local language and also a description in a local language, ingredients etc. all have to be in a the local language. Belief......

...job itself. For example a worker will only turn up to work if a business has provided a reasonable level of pay and safe working conditions but these factors will not make him work harder at his job once he is there. Herzberg believed that businesses should motivate employees by adopting a democratic approach to management and by improving the nature and content of the actual job through certain methods. Some of the methods managers could use to achieve this are: Job enlargement – workers being given a greater variety of tasks to perform (not necessarily more challenging) which should make the work more interesting. Job enrichment - involves workers being given a wider range of more complex and challenging tasks surrounding a complete unit of work. This should give a greater sense of achievement. Empowerment means delegating more power to employees to make their own decisions over areas of their working life. M2 Compare the use of motivation theories an organisation Tesco’s employee reward programme has similarity to Taylor’s theory. Its financial reward packages are one motivating factor. However, there are factors other than money which motivate people in both their reward personal and working lives. Tesco goes far beyond Taylor and gives more than just simple pay increases. It supports the varied lifestyles of individual employees through relevant and targeted benefits. Many non- financial factors can and do motivate employees to improve their output.one such......

The research will find out what people like, where apple Iphone can improve its technology, and how customers needs and desires can be fulfilled. This can be done through gathering two sources of data such as primary and secondary and researchers can use techniques such as qualitative and quantitative. In D2 I will be making justified suggestions for improving the validity of the limitations that was mentioned in M2. There are different limitations in market research, I explained five of these in my M2 and I will be discussing these limitations and how they can be improved in this task. I will also evaluate how the limitations of the three methods of market research that Sainsbury’s uses can be improved in order to keep up their performance if they have been doing well or even if they haven’t been failing how these limitations have help improve their business. Food sampling followed by a survey was the first method of research used by Sainsbury’s to which I discussed in M2. There are many limitations when it comes to food sampling followed by a survey and these limitations were discussed in M2 also. The limitations I discussed concerning food sampling followed by a survey were cultural and cost. Both these limitations will always affect how food sampling followed by a survey is done when this research method is being carried out, but these limitations can be rendered simple but still have effect on this research method. Sainsbury’s being the third leading supermarket in the UK they must carry out large sums of market research in order for the them to beat their competitors although they are in close......
