Lone Star College – Tomball
Tomball College and Community Library What is an Annotated Bibliography?
An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents on a related topic. Each citation is followed by a brief (30150 word) descriptive paragraph. The purpose of the annotation is to critically evaluate the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources you have cited and help other researchers locate valuable information.

Steps in Creating an Annotated Bibliography:

1. Locate books, periodicals, and other sources that may contain information on your topic.

2. Critically examine the items. For a book, scan the jacket, introduction, table of contents and index. For an article, carefully review the abstract and main headings in the text.

3. After the initial review, select those works that provide useful information/perspectives on your topic.

4. Create an APA style reference entry for each item.

5. Immediately below the reference entry compose a concise paragraph that summarizes the central theme and scope of each book, article, film, essay, website, government report, etc. Typically, an annotation includes: 1 o information on the authority or background of the author 2 o a description of the intended audience for the work 3 o a comparison/contrast of the usefulness of this work with other items cited in the bibliography 4 o information that you discovered that would help another researcher investigating the same topic.

Format for an APA Annotated Bibliography.
The citations for an annotate bibliography follow the rules for APA style reference entries. The annotation is a double-spaced, block paragraph.
Indent the paragraph two spaces from the last line of the citation entry.

Case Study 5

...Arif, Umer MGMT 303 Mary Ann Bautista Aug 9, 2013 The Temptations of Tempting Case Study 1. A senior manager at a growing business and you’re ready to add employees. Your HR manager has recommended a temp-to-perm policy. You know the advantages of this approach, but what might some of the disadvantages? As a person who has worked many temporary positions, if I had to look at the disadvantages of temp to perm I am not sure what I would say. I think the biggest disadvantage would have to be having to retrain a new person every time someone didn’t work out. The more time you spend training someone the less time you and that person spend doing the job they were hired to do. There also may be a decrease in company morale. If you bring in a temp working putting in the same hours every week and the same amount of hard work as your permanent employees, but they are not getting the same benefits this could lead to problems (Schaefer, 2005). Studies show that there are more safety issues in places where there are a lot of temporary workers hired. It is never safe to assume that a temporary worker is able to work unsupervised no matter how much training they may have (Schaefer, 2005). 2. Assume that you’re a prospective job seeker (which you may very well be). What do you personally see as the advantages and disadvantages of taking a temp-to-perm position? Under what circumstances are you most likely to take a temp-to-perm position? ...

...team mammoth effort against Bangladesh and shocking India to go through to the Finals. Throughout the tournament there were areas of concern for the team in view of global trophy success in 2015 held in Australia. First, Shahid Afridi did play well in terms of batting by pulling off the amazing heist against India and decimating Bengalis to achieve a gigantic score. Shahid Afridi is one of the most iconic cricketers the country has produced but there must be a serious concern about fitness since he has become more prone to injuries. Diffrence Between Islamic Economics and Conventional Economics

...Frankly, to know more about Islamic economic, lets briefly look at differentiation between Islamic economic and conventional economic. The first different is the role of moral values. Basically, conventional economics is more concern towards behavior and preferences of individuals as given. However, Islamic economics more concern on individual and social improvement throughout the moral elevation. This moral evaluation or known as uplift moral aims to the changes of individual and preferences of the individuals which is complement the price mechanism in promoting general well being. (Chapra Umer M, 2010) This obviously show that conventional economic considers about the behavior and preference that given while Islamic economic consider about the changes of behavior and preferences. In Islamic economics, before customers entering the market place and being exposed to the price filter, the consumers are expected to pass their claims through the moral filter. With this, the preposterous, wasteful and unnecessary demand on resources can be discarding and filter out. Here then the price mechanism take over and lessen all the claims on resources and subsequently lead to meet market equilibrium. Sometimes, two filters (Islamic and conventional) can make it possible in making optimum economy, due to may be one filter not able to fulfill the market needs of all human being. This two filter can be together in order to use only the necessary resources to satisfy the material as well as......
