Unit 6. Exercise 1. Ticket Escalation
From what I understand that you have received complaints from department supervisors stating that support issues are not being met in a timely manner. A ticket escalation policy is a perfect idea. We definitely need to ensure business priorities are met while end-user expectations are too. I will draft a policy of how support requests will be prioritized. Each technical issue will receive a ticket number. Each ticket will contain the information from the bullet points above right along with the date, time and level of the technical issue. Supervisors of the respective department will receive a copy of each ticket and the systems admin will keep a copy on file for future reference. Each technical issue will be assigned a level and they will be levels 1, 2 and 3; Level 1 being a simple and normal issue, and level 3 being the most urgent and high prioritized. I will assign a level of each technical issue upon inspection of each report, whether it's remotely or in person. Higher prioritized (or level 3) issues will be handled first, being that these are most urgent and need immediate attention. Level 1 and 2 issues will be prioritized by department and it goes as follows: Customer service; Sales; Accounting; Marketing. We can better manage these business requirements by each department receiving a copy of the policy once it is finalized. Each employee of this company should get a copy and be aware of this new policy to avoid any confusion or complaints in the…...

Symbolism in “a Pair of Tickets”

...Symbolism in “A Pair of Tickets” The same way scratches on paper create language and just one look from an admirer creates a feeling of love in ones heart; symbolism can evoke emotion and meaning that generates magic in a story. I believe symbolism is a prevalent and unwavering theme weaved throughout Amy Tan’s short story “A Pair of Tickets.” Many things, such as the names of the characters, and the photographs they take in the story embody symbolism and turn this story into a remarkable account of family and how it is one of life’s unbreakable bonds. The importance of symbolism in this short story makes it come alive to the reader. To summarize of Amy Tans “A Pair of Tickets” we look at the main character, Jing-mei. She is on a train, with her father, heading to China to visit her family. She speaks of not feeling like she is really Chinese. Although all of her family is Chinese, she grew up in America because that is where her parents moved during the Japanese invasion of China. They first visit the town of Guangzhou, where her father’s great aunt is waiting to see them. This is the first time the reader gets a glimpse of Jing-mei being interested in her Chinese heritage. “The minute our train leaves the Hong Kong border and enters Shenzhen, China, I feel different. I can feel the skin on my forehead tingling, my blood rushing through a new course, my bones aching with a familiar old pain. And I think, my mother was right. I am becoming Chinese.” (Norton, 189.) Airline Ticket Pricing

...Airline Ticket Pricing   The basis of airlines competition for passengers and a larger share of the market are based on: i. Frequency of service and departure schedule on each route served ii. Price charged, relative to other airlines, to the extent that regulation allows for price competition iii. Quality of service and products offered ‐‐airport and in‐flight service amenities and/or restrictions on discount fare products Passengers on the other hand choose combination of prices, flight schedules and product quality that will maximize the utility of taking a flight. Therefore, it is in the interest of each passenger to have the best service for the lowest price possible on a flight that departs at the most convenient time (Peoples, 2012). Price elasticity is a measure of how responsive consumers are to price changes or consumers' price sensitivity to changes in price. From the law of Demand, we know for certain that an increase in the price of a product will always result in a decrease in the amount demanded and vice versa. That is, we know the direction of the change. Price Elasticity answers the question: When price goes up, how much does the quantity fall. Knowledge of price elasticity helps a firm to accurately forecast the impact of price changes on unit sales. Price elasticity also helps the firm determine an optimal pricing strategy to max profits. The understanding of the price elasticity of demand for a given company's services can guide the firm in...

Fantastic Ticket Sales

... Fantastic Ticket Sales? I think not! So, the Olympics. Am I excited about it? Yes. Did I order tickets? Yes. Did I stay awake until 6am and beyond to order them? Yes. But the real question is; did I get a single ticket? No. So here I am, a raging sports enthusiast, without a single ticket. I love the Olympics! I’ve wanted to go since I was just 5 years old; and when it finally comes to London, the 150,000 tickets reserved for Britain, are squandered away to Europe just for more money! Disaster. How can anyone say it’s a remotely good system? It’s an absolute shamble. The ticket sales are more like a lottery and we know that no one ever wins that. Well; unless there are god damn lucky, filthy rich and can afford to bid for every single ticket possible! There could be a multitude of successful systems yet we insist on using this monstrosity! How do we expect to get anywhere when the ticket allocation team can’t even distribute them correctly OR evenly! A friend of mine has been given tickets to two events but here’s the funny part; they both start within half an hour of each other in different parts of London! This ticket distribution is ridiculous. I mean honestly, I could have designed a better system even though I find difficulties in distributing change to people! Why didn’t they just simplify it and have it so that each day a different event goes on sale and you have the whole day to bid, not just at 6am! Oh, and when there is a credit card glitch,......

Her parent took of to a new place also at the same day. Trina found herself left alone with her new husband in their new place. She was going out with his pal McTeague and Marcus didn’t like it, but he was hiding his emotions. And that ticket was last drop for Marcus. He started to treat McTeague differently day by day, and finally he let his anger out in salon where he was drinking and McTeague was seating behind him. The Escalation of Deception in Organizations

...The Escalation of Deception in Organizations I am happy and sad to read this article, written by Peter Fleming and Stelios C. Zyglidopoulos (2008), ‘The Escalation of Deception in Organizations’. Just knowing how easily deception starts, how it escalates and how it can end if left unchecked is shocking! Sir Walter Scott, Marmion, Canto Vl, is right on target when he wrote, “Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!” Individuals weave complex webs with threads of deception, corporation, escalation, lying and unethical behavior that can manifest from the inside or outside of any organizations. This behavior can and will encompass unsuspecting employees and investors who may inadvertently become involved without their knowledge. This article explains, to its readers, why it is imperative to understand where this organizational killer starts, be aware of how it escalates and how moderators can prevent the deception from escalating into an organizational level phenomenon. The happy news is that escalation of deceit to the organizational level (the end) can be prevented altogether. If escalation has already started and caught in an early stage, this phenomenon can be halted and reversed using these two moderators; Commitment and implementation of a corporate code of ethics explained by Sommers, (2001), Adam and Rachman-Moore (2004), O’Dwyer and Madden (2006) and Effective Control Systems, Rosanas and Velila (2005). A morally matured person acts......

A Pair of Tickets Summary

...Summary and Analysis Jing-Mei Woo: A Pair of Tickets Jing-mei is on a train to China, traveling with her seventy-two-year-old father, Canning Woo. As the train enters Shenzhen, China, Jing-mei begins to "feel Chinese." Their first stop will be Guangzhou. Like her father, Jing-mei is weeping for joy. After her mother's death, a letter arrived from China from her mother's twin daughters from her first marriage. These were the two children whom she was forced to abandon on the side of the road in 1944. Jing-mei's father asked Auntie Lindo to write back to the girls and tell them that their mother was dead. Instead, Auntie Lindo took the letter to the Joy Luck Club. Together, the women answered the letter, signing Suyuan Woo's name to it. Jing-mei agrees that she should be the one to tell her half-sisters about their mother's death. But after dreaming about the scene many times, she begs Auntie Lindo to write a letter to the sisters explaining that their mother is dead. Auntie Lindo does so. The train pulls into the station, and the visitors are met by Canning's great-aunt. The reunion is emotional. Other relatives join them. Jing-mei wins her young cousin Lili over with instant photographs from her Polaroid camera. They soon arrive at a magnificent hotel, much grander than Jing-mei had expected. Jing-mei is anxious to have her first real Chinese feast; however, the native-born Chinese family decides that they want to eat American — hamburgers, French fries, and apple......

Escalation of Commitment

...(1984) Escalation of Commitment in Individual and Group Decision Making MAX H. BAZERMAN Massachusetts Institute of Technology TONI GIULIANO University of Texas at Austin AND A L A N APPELMAN Citicorp Previous research (cf. B. M. Staw, Academy of Management Review, 1981, 6, 577-587) has found that when managers are given negative feedback on an initial individual investment decision, they allocate more additional funds to that investment if they, rather than another member of their organization, made the initial allocation decision. Justification is thought to underlie this phenomenon. This study explored commitment in group and individual decisions and examined the plausibility of dissonance processes as the mediator of escalation of commitment. One hundred eighty-three individuals participated in a role-playing exercise in which personal responsibility for an initial decision was manipulated for groups and individuals. As expected, escalation of commitment occurred for both groups and individuals. In support of a dissonance explanation, dissonance processes did vary as a function of the personal responsibility manipulation, and individual variation in dissonance responses accounted for a substantial portion of variance in allocation behavior beyond that accounted for by the experimental manipulations. The results concerning dissonance processes suggest a number of ways in which escalation can be reduced in individuals and groups. The......

Acc/250 Time Tickets and Expense Tickets

...Time Tickets and Expense Tickets Memo To: XXXXXXXXXX From: XXXXXXXXXXXX Date: XXXXXXXXXXXX We just purchased new accounting software for the company. Now we need to review the time and expense tickets. We will cover the information that is contained in each, how the information is utilized by the company and what are the differences and similarities between the two ticket types. Time tickets record employee and other vendor activities. These activities can be employee consultation with the vendor or they can be employee research activities. The activities can be logged at any time. The billing rate that is entered depends on the employee and type of account. Expense tickets record money spent by the company in support of customer requests. The expenses depend on the specific service done on behalf of the customer. They can include things like court fees, copying and faxes. Sales and invoicing applications depend on the information logged in the time and expense tickets. When in either the sales or the invoicing applications one can hit the “apply tickets and reimbursable expense”. This will take you to the timing and expense tickets applications where information that is already logged can be used to complete sales or invoices. In this part we need to note that the total expense is the price or service multiplied by the number of times the service was done. If there are any problems with this feel free to contact me at this number 555-555-5555 or my......
