...foreign to me, where it used to be a place I knew so well. I don’t regret my decision to go this far away to school. In result I believe it has helped me grow as a person and really get to know myself in on another way that I don’t think I could have done back at home. The distance between the two locations has also been a blessing in disguise. It has made me appreciate all the relationships I have, whether it is with family or friends. Since I don’t get to see the people I know back home that often, I don’t take for granted the time I have with each of them and really try to enjoy the time I have to spend with them. In conclusion, Initially when I began this course I never thought I would actually get this much out of a class about theater. Controversially to my prior beliefs I have taken much more from this class than I thought I would. I have learned to really digest a story and in result I have enjoyed reading literature much more than I had previously. I have also seen there are numerous parallels and connections I share with characters, which really makes you feel more interested in what’s happening to the characters. Overall, I am very glad I got the chance to take this course and use what I’ve learned in the future....

...PHILIPPINE THEATER Theater in the Philippines is as varied as the cultural traditions and the historical influences that shaped it through the centuries. The dramatic forms that flourished and continue to flourish among the different peoples of the archipelago include: the indigenous theater, mainly Malay in character, which is seen in rituals, mimetic dances, and mimetic customs; the plays with Spanish influence, among which are the komedya, the sinakulo, the playlets, the sarswela, and the drama; and the theater with Anglo-American influence, which encompasses bodabil and the plays in English, and the modern or original plays by Fihpinos, which employ representational and presentational styles drawn from contemporary modern theater, or revitalize traditional forms from within or outside the country. The Indigenous Theater The rituals, dances, and customs which are still performed with urgency and vitality by the different cultural communities that comprise about five percent of the country’s population are held or performed, together or separately, on the occasions of a person’s birth, baptism, circumcision, initial menstruation, courtship, wedding, sickness, and death; or for the celebration of tribal activities, like hunting, fishing, rice planting and harvesting, and going to war. ...anderen besuchen Diskotheken. Viele gehen ins Theater.
