Andres Bonifacio
Me Tangere, El Filibusterismo, The Wandering Jew at Les Miserables.

...read process. These cards use technology similar to the one used for music CDs or CD ROMs. Optical cards currently store between 4 and 6.6 MB of data which gives the ability to store graphical images such as photographs, logos, fingerprints, x-rays, etc. When using optical cards a key view point is that it is a write once technology. This means that whatever data in burned into the material cannot be erased and will have a history related to it. This is can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on the application. Figure 5 to the left illustrates an optical card with the corresponding reader. The last type of AIDC is Radio Frequency Identification known as RFID. This is a device that reads information contained in a wireless device or “tag” from a distance without making any physical contact or requiring a line of sight. This technology uses radio waves to identify people or objects, and transfer data. The major advantage to RFIDs is it’s a means of obtaining information on an item without making direct contact. RFID technologies were established back in the 1970’s but advancement in this area of study is currently rapidly growing. Figure 6 to the right illustrates an FRID with the standard components....

Meta Tags

...Meta tags are information inserted in the head areas of Web pages [ (Schachinger, 2012) ]. tags can be read by search engines, but cannot be seen by the viewers of the pages they are in. They are put in between the tags in the HTML of a Web page. tags have a few functions such as using “description” to give a synopsis of the site or “keyword” to feed crawlers from search engines. tags are used to help gain more traffic on your web page. The more keywords you use the better chance of more viewers you have.In years past, when the algorithms used by search engines were less advanced, tags were one of the main resources they used. It was quicker and used fewer resources to look for the tags. Programmers could also add in a “ROBOTS” line with a CONTENT value of “NOINDEX” to prevent search engines from indexing the page. Tags used to be very important in a Web page, but now they are not as useful. tags are no longer supported by most crawlers and the rumor is that they are dead (Sullivan, 2002). Most sources will say that it is okay to use tags, but they also caution that they will not necessarily increase your Web page traffic. The top search engine, Google, ignores the tags and uses its algorithm to create its own description. It is important to maintain professional standards in web development. Without these guidelines, there can be multiple problems in your pages. By following standards you ensure yourself quality web pages and you will not risk any copyright issues. It is......

...Executive Summary The Lean implementation methodology (Lean) has its roots in manufacturing and particularly the automotive sector through the Toyota Production System. Over the last decade, Lean has expanded beyond manufacturing to become an improvement methodology firstly in the service sector and more recently in public sector organisations looking to improve efficiency and customer value. It is within this context that AtoZ Business Consultancy undertook an analysis of Lean implementations across Business Schools and Universities in the UK. This analysis was undertaken using a case study approach of five diverse Higher Education organisations. The case studies included a combination of Russell Group and non Russell Group organisations, research intensive as well as teaching informed organisations and organisations with large non EU student numbers. The organisations were spread geographically across England, Scotland and Wales and included large metropolitan areas as well as smaller more rural locations. There has been a driver for Lean in all public sector organisations as a result of draconian government budget cuts. Within Higher Education this has been further driven by the announcement of increased student fees following the Browne Review. Lean with its focus on value, customer, efficiency and effectiveness is sensitive to this context as well as other initiatives such as the sustainability and green agenda, supporting increasing the performance in the National...

Hash Tag: Yes to Fraternity, No to Hazing

...“Hash tag: Yes to Fraternity, No to Hazing” Have you ever imagined yourself blindfolded, violently dragged to somewhere you even don’t know, struck hard by a paddle or a hard object and felt the excruciating pain? Do you have any idea of how will you ever survive the bruises, wounds and lashes you will get? It will not only scar your skin and flesh but your mind and soul, beating you physically, mentally and emotionally and worst may lead to your death. Fraternity - the most conventional thing that people who have nothing to do in life resort to; the brotherhood that protects its foundation towards less sensible goals; and the growing parasites of the society inflicting students and youth. Well, these are the common perceptions we initially think of about the fraternity. This must be the NEGATIVE view of this so-called brotherhood but let’s try to peek in beyond its surface. Brotherhood, it’s the considered primary reason why a group of people entitled themselves to establish a fraternity. Fraternities actually ruled the world. From a continent reaching the other end of another continent, you can never deny the existence maybe not called as fraternity but a brotherhood that stands for something they would fight unto force just like any other. In Filipino term, brotherhood is the “kapatiran”. Never been an alien to our ears, this kapatiran is composed of men with common goals in which they protect and cultivate, and this purposely unites them. Fellows, let’s be......

Guide to Tags and Tagging

...A Guide to Tags and Tagging Modern websites and blogs often provide a feature called a 'Tag Cloud'. It contains a series of words that are common across the site and sized according to how many times they are used. Larger words are more common, smaller ones less so. When people initially start tagging they tend to use the wrong words and overuse the tags system to relate items together. This leads to a tag cloud that isn't as useful as it could be. What are Tags used for? Tags are used to highlight items and references across all types of content on a site. If I have a page that talks about bananas and an event about bananas, I would tag them as 'Fruit'. You may think that 'Banana' would be the right tag but that will be very unlikely to appear in the cloud unless you're a banana wholesaler. When a user comes across an item about bananas they may wish to see what other fruit items you have on your site. The tags will let them instantly find fruit related material without having to search for Apple, Orange, Strawberry etc. A tag should loosely relate to the subject matter so you can relate items that have a similar theme. Tags should allow a user to hit a page and follow that pages theme to your other content (Keeping them on your site). Sometimes you may wish to use more specific tags and this is fine if you have many items with that tag. If you're site covers growing fruit and vegetables you probably have enough to content on 'greenhouses' or 'compost' to......

Supplies, Cost, Price Tag, and Assurance

...Suppliers, Cost, Price Tag, and Assurance Price and Cost “When you stop to think about what price is, are you talking about the price tag or are you talking about the cost, the total cost” (Dr. W. Edwards Deming as cited in Encyclopedia Britannica Education Corporation, 1984). “. . . [I]t is total cost that is important not the price tag on what you buy” (Dr. W. Edwards Deming as cited in Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1982). These words, or others along these same lines, are probably some of Dr. Deming’s mostly quoted sayings. And why not, he was right. It is still not at all that uncommon of a practice for purchasing departments to select a supplier based on price alone. That is, the supplier with the lost price gets the job. In addition, in order to insure the lowest price, is obtained the performance appraisals of purchasers are often tied to the amount money they save the company. On the surface this may seem reasonable and rational. The problem arises when the part is used and downtime, rework, and scrap results. The cost of the initial part is what Dr. Deming refers as the “price tag,” this plus the cost of using the part, rework, scrap, etc. is the “total cost.” So what you want is ‘good’ quality parts from your suppliers. All we need to do then is tell them to implement TQM and everything will fine, right? Well it would be nice if were that simple. But if you think out about it a bit, if the supplier had the desire, or the capability to implement TQM,......

Question Tags

...Question Tags English Grammar Rules Question tags are short questions at the end of statements. They are mainly used in speech when we want to: * confirm that something is true or not, or * to encourage a reply from the person we are speaking to. Question tags are formed with the auxiliary or modal verb from the statement and the appropriate subject. A positive statement is followed by a negative question tag. * Jack is from Spain, isn't he? * Mary can speak English, can't she? A negative statement is followed by a positive question tag. * They aren't funny, are they? * He shouldn't say things like that, should he? When the verb in the main sentence is in the present simple we form the question tag with do / does. * You play the guitar, don't you? * Alison likes tennis, doesn't she? If the verb is in the past simple we use did. * They went to the cinema, didn't they? * She studied in New Zealand, didn't she? When the statement contains a word with a negative meaning, the question tag needs to be positive * He hardly ever speaks, does he? * They rarely eat in restaurants, do they? * Intonation * We can change the meaning of a tag question with the musical tone of our voice. With rising intonation, it sounds like a real question. But if our intonation falls, it sounds more like a statement that doesn't require a real answer: * * For example: * You don't know where my wallet is,...

Patricia Hill Collin’s Thoughts on Shadow Tag

...Bailey Gerard-Custodio Ms. Dane ENGL 2593 November 26,2013 Essay 2: Patricia Hill Collin’s Thoughts on Shadow Tag Patricia Hill Collin’s main argument in, The Sexual Politics of Black Womanhood, is that race controls the type of objectification a woman will face. Meaning, race controls the way society perceives a woman. In the novel, Shadow Tag, Louise Erdrich tells a chilly story of a marriage controlled by possession. A woman is shown objectification through her cultural origin and background. Throughout the novel, Gil wished to possess Irene. His possession over Irene’s body was obtained through his depictions of her in his artwork. The idea that an object is something you can obtain and possess would relate the novel by Louise Erdrich to the argument of Patricia Hill Collins. Gil’s obsession over his wife’s body also created a form of domination that utilized a form of oppression. Patricia Hill Collins writes, “Sexuality becomes a domain of restriction and repression when this energy is tied to the larger system of race, class, and gender oppression.” Gil controlled Irene’s image and sexuality through a form oppression that accompanied her race, class, and gender because he found that it exemplified his talent as an artist. “He painted Indians when he painted his wife because he couldn’t help it—the ferocity between them, the need. Her blood ancestors came out in Gil’s painting as he worked.” Gil painted Irene in the way he wanted people to perceive her. He used......

Meta Tags

...The Usage of Meta Tags The Usage of Meta Tags Meta tags are used by search engine spiders to gather information about the current page the spider is crawling. This data is then used to help the search engines create what are called Search Engine Results Pages. There are three main types of Meta tags, title, description and keywords. The title tag should be something that users will be able to search for in the search box. For example if you’re a breeder of pit bulls, then make the title tag informing users that you are. Descriptions are typically used on the SERPs as an overview of information contained in the page. Keywords are typically used by search engines to aid in ranking the paper besides other similar pages on the SERPs. The keywords tag should be used to sum up what the site it about in detail using “to the point words” for what information is on the current page. This allows a user to type in the general idea of their search and for the spider to crawl for those words. The description tag should be a brief description on what your site offers, does, or is about! For example, if your page is about breeding pit bulls pups in your area, describe the type of puppies, prices, and......

Rfid Tags in Stores and Their Privacy Issues

...RFID Tags in Stores and Their Privacy Issues RFID tags in stores and the privacy issues that arise from their use are that they can be read from a distance. These tags are able to store personal information about the consumer. The RFID tags can be placed on an item without the consumer even knowing that it is there. RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. RFID tags are a technology that uses very small computer chips about the size of a grain of sand. They are used to keep track of items from a distance. Each chip has a unique identification number that is paired to an antenna that transmits information between it and a reader device. Some of these chips can transmit information to a reader that is up to 30 feet away. RFID tags can be programmed to store personal information about how a person shops, what they buy most often, how often they go to a certain store. Some chips could even store what credit card was used to make a purchase. RFID tags can be hidden from the consumer. These chips can be put between layers of cardboard. RFID tags can be placed in plastic or they can be in the design of the package. Privacy issues for RFID tags are that they can be read from a large distance by anyone with a reader. RFID chips can lead to theft of personal information by criminals. The consumer may not know that the chip has stored their personal information or that it can be read by anyone with a reader.
