“Same Inside and Out”
Some people act a certain way by themselves then they do in front of people. Some people will have two-faced or even double-faced. The difference between the two is people who are double-faced have two different characters –other for close friends and when they are by themselves. Usually, these two faces don’t correspond to each other. Not only is such double life irritating for surrounding people, but it is also hard for the person as well. A person's public image is based on the opinions of others toward your appearance of how you WANT to be looked at. The fact that you are trying to be viewed in a certain way does not mean you actually pull it off. Most people's presentation of themselves is based on current trends, like what’s cool, what’s hip, at the moment.
Your private self is based on your actual desires and the only audience is yourself, so you do not have any one to impress but yourself. Of course, plenty of people still try to prove themselves along with everyone else. Making sure they have the newest gadgets, fashion, sneakers, clothes, hair just please others. Too much energy is spent on sustaining two images, and if one of them will become known to the other group of people, the reputation will be greatly damaged and can hardly be renovated.
As for me, I am absolutely sure that a person doesn’t have to strive to be someone else, it seems like a full time job just to please someone who doesn’t know you from a can of paint. If you want to become like some other person – you have to change yourself, but not your image. In public im a classy female, always look well groomed, and always have great manners. In private I'm not as worried about how I look because I'm around people who love me for me and don't judge me on my appearance. My manners and appearance are what differ the most from my private image. Nothing is so drastically different from my images that it changes me as a person. I think people have become obsessed with their public image because they are so worried about what other people think about them. This causes a person's public image to greatly differ from their private image which makes you not be able to really get to know a person. In conclusion, there is no reason to change your appearance just so someone can like you for the material things and they should like you for you .…...

...-One Walking into school after months of not showing up was like walking into a nightmare. I forgot the smell and the peeling paint and the tiled floor. I forgot how the people talk and walk and stare. But being here again, it comes back in huge explosive waves. I feel sick. All I’ve been feeling lately is sick. I search for my locker. All the numbers are wrong, jumbled and unreadable. Asking would mean something is clearly wrong. I hold onto all my books, my backpack pressing hard on my shoulders. The bell rings and it is louder than I remember. I clench my teeth. The sounds resembles nails on a chalkboard, at least to me it does. Every day for two months I went to history class at this time in Mrs. Waters’ room. And now, I have no idea where it is. “Edith,” a girl’s voice says. I turn. “Yeah,” I say to Clara. Clara is the sweetest person on the planet. For the longest time I thought she was super fake because how can someone be that nice all the time. But she just is. “You have Waters still, right?” “Yeah,” I say. She loops her arm around mine. “I’m glad they didn’t change it.” “Me too,” but I don’t really care. Pulling me around corners and through different hallways we end up in history class. The room looks familiar, but a faraway familiar. Like a dream or déjà vu. She sits in the front row right next to the teacher’s desk. I escape to the back, the corner, right next to the window. Clara looks around and then moves to the seat in front of me. “I get it,”......

It Is Only Worth Watching Movies That Can Teach Us Something About Real Life, Agree or Disagree?

...It is only worth watching movies that can teach us something about real life, agree or disagree? I don’t agree with this statement. In my opinion, all wovies can be,more or less, instructive and beneficial to us. Movies have become an important means of entertainment for modern people.Whether they are science fiction movies ,historical movies or movies that illustrate modern life, most of them are based on the prevailing social perspective and are consistent with our current value systems. When going to the theatre to spend a pleasant weekend,we don’t have to be too selective to watch movies which are meant to “teach” us.In fact, all movies can be,more or less, instructive and we are fully justified to choose whatever we like in the movie theatre. Different movies reflect various aspects of our real life. What we will learn from the movie all depends on how we comprehend these intructive information incorporated within the movies. Some people prefer to watch science fiction movies which not only fulfills their imagination for the future but also evokes their interest in real life science study;some people enjoy historical themes because they find many similarities between historical figure and contemporary people. They find most of the movie characters’ maneuvers still practical in real life;Others, including me,choose to watch movies that illustrate modern life.I discover many novelties from the movies:from basic physics principles in “The big bang theory”,to the......

...This is an excellent example of a remembering essay. Even though it is longer in length than you are required, the student who submitted it to me received the same assignment that you have. Note the many techniques she incorporates into her essay to make it personal and emotionally appealing to her audience. Hope Ellison English 1113, 10294 September 20, 2004 Live like You’re Dying Standing at a benefit to raise money for cancer a few weeks ago, I heard someone begin to sing “Wind beneath My Wings.” Hearing such an inspirational song made me start to think about the “wind beneath my wings,” my mom. Webster’s Dictionary defines the word Influence as “the power to affect others.” To me, my mom embraced this power. One look at her gorgeous white smile could make any obscure day instantly brighter for those around her, and especially for me. She possessed an overwhelming nature that could never be shaken; she was truly a pure, gentle soul. It is amazing how time can fly by without any notice or warning. One day our lives are routine and orderly and then another day they change drastically. Losing someone close to us often leaves us finally realizing what life is truly about. Most of us have at least one circumstance in life that totally transforms our perspective of the world. Looking back, I clearly understand how watching my mom battle cancer for her final year of life completely altered my outlook about everything around me. IN THIS OPENING PARAGRAPH, SHE BEGINS......

Is It Worth It or Not?

...Is It Worth It Or Not? Social Psychology Paper Scenario March 23, 2014 University of Phoenix PSY/201 FOUNDATIONS OF PSYCHOLOGY Is it Worth it or Not? In the scenario of 15 year old Sarah it is evident that Sarah made some poor choices that were out of character for her. As we see in the reading Sarah is a A student, is for the most part responsible and obedient. Sarah begins school and meets a new set of friends and is exploring her rule boundaries. As Sarah begins to hang out with this new crowd she begins to test those boundaries and goes to a party that she knows she should not have gone to and breaks her parents strict curfew. While this is out of character for Sarah it is not uncommon for teenagers to push boundaries in an effort to develope and test their independence. There were several factors that contributed to Sarah’s uncharacteristic behavior such as her having new friends and wanting to fit in, the fact that she had never been to a party before, and her desire to continue being invited out by these new friends. Sarah’s friends peer pressured her into going to this party by telling her how much fun it was going to be, and how much she would be missing if she didn’t go to the party. This was the biggest reason Sarah broke curfew, because she wanted to fit in with the new crowd and might have been afraid that they wouldn’t invite her again if she didn’t go and it would affect her social life. Sarah displays......

Remembering

...Josh Thompson History Ms. Kadlecek 7 April 2014 Remembering The word holocaust means “sacrifice by fire” and comes from the Greek words “holos” meaning whole and “kaustos” meaning burnt. The Holocaust of the 20th century was the mass murder of approximately six million Jews by the Nazi command during World War II. In Elie Wiesel’s memoir, Night, he states, “…in their early days of their accession to power, the Nazis in Germany set out to build a society in which there simply would be no room for Jews. Toward the end of their reign, their goal changed: they decided to leave behind a world in ruins in which Jews would seem never to have existed” (viii). The shock and horror does not lessen regardless of how many times a book or article is read or a movie watched about the Holocaust. Learning about the horrible, dark period from 1935 – 1945 is important in several ways. On one hand, it has been said we must learn about the past in order not to relive it. However, we are also told not to dwell in the past. When studying the Holocaust, both adages have truth. Chilling questions occur when learning about the Holocaust. They are questions that Elie Wiesel repeated in his acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. Wiesel says he remembers asking his father, “Who would allow such crimes to be committed? How could the world remain silent?” (118). Millions of Jews were killed by overwork, starvation, torture, and cold blooded murder just because they were a different race......

Of course, you can chat in live games, but if people said the same things in a live game that they sometimes say on the Internet, there would be a lot of bloody noses sitting at the table. Although some players abuse the chat feature, in general it adds a great dimension that allows you to talk to players from all over the world. Internet chat has created a lot of jargon to shorten the amount of typing required. One of the most popular is lol or Laugh Out Loud. Most players use this to laugh at how a hand developed usually in a bad beat situation, but it can also be used as a laugh in general. ... “As a woman in this day & age, I am in a position to ask a man what can you do for me that I can’t do for myself? I pay my own bills. I take care of my household without the help of any man…or woman for that matter. I am in the position to ask, ‘What can you bring to the table?’” The man looked at her. Clearly he thought that she was referring to money. She quickly corrected his thought & stated, “I am not referring to money. I need something more. I need a man who is striving for excellence in every aspect of life.” He sat back in his chair, folded his arms, & asked her to explain. She said, “I need someone who is striving for excellence mentally because I need conversation & mental stimulation. I don’t need a simple-minded man. I need someone who is striving for excellence spiritually because I don’t need to be unequally yoked…believers mixed with unbelievers is a recipe for disaster. ...

Remembering and Commemorating the War Essay

...Remembering and Commemorating the War Essay According to Blight, Fredrick Douglas fought hard to protect the memory of the war. What was Douglas’s memory of the war and why did he try to protect it? North vs. South, Confederates vs. The Union. Rifles were fired… brother vs. brother. Men were named heroes for seemingly valiant acts in battle. We learn many things from the past. A nation was literally ripped in half in what was called the bloodiest conflict in American History. History is not an obsolete thing. Rather, it teachers valuable lessons. It can’t be denied how tragic the Civil War really was in American History. “It is not well to forget the past. Memory was given to man for some wise purpose. The past is the mirror in which we discern the dim outlines of the future and by which we may make them”(97). Prominent American Figure Fredrick Douglas was born a slave, educated, freed himself then became an accomplished author that fought for equality for blacks and many other groups in America. In the text Beyond the Battlefield: Race, Memory, and the American Civil War, author David W. Blight describes Douglas’s memory of the Civil War as something beyond the battlefield. Fredrick Douglas recognized the heroism and the death that happened on the battlefield. However there was much more than the combat and battle happenings that Douglas remembered. Douglas remembered what it was to be a slave; this very insight was the key to his memory of the Emancipation......

...more commonly used as a way of describing employees or positions (Iles, 2010). From this we can see issues of identity affirmation and the associated status and power that are ascribed to those allegedly bearing ‘talent’. In the wider public domain, the term ‘the talent’ is commonly used when referring to, for example, entertainment celebrities. Here ‘talent’ refers to those individuals who make a living from an ability to perform on stage or screen. In this context the intention is to encourage a search for ‘undiscovered talent’ and, in attempts to do so, the quest often unearths ‘raw talent.’ However, what constitutes talent is very much about perspective and is driven as much by personal preferences of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ as by something clearly definable. For instance, a popular television show cites successful individuals as having the ‘X-Factor’ with the ‘X’ referring to an indescribable quality that constitutes or denotes a special talent. The end result is that the winners of the show, that is the ‘talent’ who, by winning are believed to have the X-Factor, aren’t necessarily guaranteed a successful or sustainable career. This is because they might not after all possess the indefinable, unexplainable and unidentifiable X that will make them successful outside of the talent show. The type of talent that is associated most often with this type of entertainment show, and also with celebrated artistic and sporting ability, is often believed to be a......

...these countries before they get their act together and feed themselves? I know it sounds heartless as I’m saying it, but think about it closely, isn’t it their fault? I honestly do not care if they don’t have money. Humans have lived for thousands of years off of the land and many animals still manage to pull this off, it’s ridiculous! Why do we have to send a bunch of religious Christian missionaries over to dig them a well? Why can’t they dig their own well? Why can’t they move out of the areas, which are consumed with nothing but drought? Are you just feeling guilty because you are living a better life? If there’s one thing that I have learned, is that you just can’t help people that will not bother to help themselves. And trust me, something, maybe not soon enough, but someday we will all run out of food and starve to death because we were all foolish enough to move on and advance the survival of our species/humans. This would all be washed away over supporting a bunch of people that would probably just as soon let us starve if we were the ones without food and they were the ones in our position. Most unselfish organizations simply give poor countries money to fend for their sick and hungry when they can instead teach them how to plant crops that survive in their harsh conditions and educate people who are illiterate and turn them into doctors and farmers. There’s a saying that saying that goes “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed......

Remembering the Champ

... ------------------Remembering the Champ---------------------- "What a great par this is gonna be". Those of you that have had the pleasure of playing golf with Brian might recall hearing him call that one out. If you haven't heard it, then I'll give you his explanation for it. My name is Matt Lynch. As one of Brian's golfing buddies from Overbrook Golf Club I've been asked to make a few comments about the golf and Overbrook portion of his life. It is an honor to do so. Regarding his phrase "what a great par this is gonna be".....Brian was a very good golfer and part of that included being an accurate driver off of the tee. Occasionally though, even Superman would hit an errant tee shot...one destined for the trees or thick rough or some other obstacle. It's at that moment, when he knew that he'd hit a bad one, that he'd say "what a great par this is gonna be". He'd explain it like this. He saw no sense in cursing about the bad shot; no sense in slamming your club, much less ever tossing your club. That was all just wasting energy on something that was over. The shot was history and there's nothing you could do about it so why waste the energy crying about it? Instead, it would be so much smarter, so much more productive to channel all of that energy into the next shot. Look forward. Figure out what you can do to salvage the situation and turn a rough start into a great par. I KNOW that's how he conducted himself on the golf course and I believe that's how......

...those who cause these deaths and accidents should be punished. President Obama has now stepped in on this issue and banned texting to all government officials while in a car owned by the government or in their own possession. Now 16 states have passed a bill through congress that has banned texting while in a car. Many Americans are saying that sending a text message while driving is the number one danger to all of their kids. Texting while driving takes away concentration on the road and driving skills, it also causes a person to not look at the road as such when something happens where you need to stop or avoid it then there would be less time to react when you finally look up, the faster you are going of course the more distance you will cover before reacting. Many places are banning cell phone use while driving due to concentration problems many people have, if they are talking about a crisis or something their attention is not on the road and what is going on around them, texting multiplies that and is much worse since they aren't even looking at where they are going while inputting the digits.
