Developing a consensus definition of supply chain management: a qualitative study
James R. Stock
Stefanie L. Boyer

В 2001м небезызвестный Ментцер собрал в кучу некоторое количество определений и интервью с директорами по логистике компаний и выдал следующее определение: the systematic, strategic coordination of the traditional business functions within a particular company and across businesses within the supply chain, for the purposes of improving the long-term performance of the individual companies and the supply chain as a whole. Возможно, стоит отметить, что Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals отдельно разделял определение логистики и SCM.
Это достаточно важное, потому что это определение достаточно долго использовалось как лучшее.
More recently, CSCMP proposed separate definitions for SCM and logistics management that again reiterated the distinct differences between the two. CSCMP currently defines logistics management as:
[. . .] that part of Supply Chain Management that plans, implements, and controls the efficient, effective forward and reverse flow and storage of goods, services and related information between the point-of-origin and the point-of-consumption in order to meet customers’ requirements (www.cscmp.org).
CSCMP has also proposed a definition for SCM, stating that it:
[. . .] encompasses the planning and management of all activities involved in…...

...Clocky: The Runaway Alarm Clock Stephen Power 12252506 MSc Marketing Full-Time Dr. Andrew Keating Consumer Marketing MKT40680 Background In the autumn of 2004, an MIT Graduate Student named Gauri Nanda came up with an idea for an innovative alarm clock as part of an electronics project. Less than one year on, she was appearing on Good Morning America and the Today Show showcasing her innovation, which she had named Clocky. The factor that set Clocky apart from your everyday alarm clock was that, in addition to making a traditional alarm sound in the morning, it would roll itself off your nightstand and move around your bedroom at random. This would give the heaviest of sleeper cause to get out of bed, find Clocky and turn it off. However, Clocky was, according to Nanda, at least a year away from mass production when he (Clocky is masculine) was garnering all the media attention. This media attention coupled with the stage of development of Clocky has posed Nanda with a number of dilemma’s and challenges. This piece will provide solutions for Nanda’s challenges. Introduction In this piece, you will see each challenge facing Nanda broken up and dealt with on an individual basis. Firstly, Nanda faces a difficult dilemma in deciding what company should manufacture the product. This decision requires a balancing act between risk and cost. The second challenge facing Nanda is distribution and partnerships. What company should Nanda partner with to sell the......

Program Evaluation Overview

...Program Evaluation Overview 1 Program Evaluation Overview The unstable, unpredictable, and ever fluctuating economy makes a good atmosphere for organizations to reap the benefits of a program evaluation. Competitive success in the everchanging marketplace will only occur when an organization puts into place continuing program feedback and program adjustments or adaptations (McNamara, 2006). There are several program evaluation models and methods available to any organization, making the stakeholders the key decision makers of the identity of scope and type of evaluation that will lend itself toward the futures goals and vision of the organization. McDavid and Hawthorn (2006) explain that there is a need for any organization conducting a programs evaluation to generate specific material for planning, design, implementation, and assessment to obtain desired results and to solve any problems or issues. To develop an evaluation focusing on relevance, utility, and design that specifically matches the organization’s needs, the stakeholders must not only address the issues at hand. They also must select an individual or team, which is internal, external, or combination of both to makeup the goal-oriented a program evaluation team. What is a Program Evaluation Boulmetis and Dutwin (2005, p. 4) define a program evaluation as the systematic and structural process of data collection. With these an organization can discerne if and to what degree organizational goals are achieved...

Msc Executive Summary

...Executive Summary Situational Analysis Overview: Marble Slab Creamery (MSC), founded in 1983, is an ice cream serving company which offers various premium ice cream products. Operating with the franchise model, MSC focuses on the student-driven market. The competitive advantage of MSC is its high standard, customized product. Compared with other local competitors, MSC serves the ice cream through manual gauging rather than the ice cream machine. Being able to choose flavours and mixins as they like, the customers of MSC can enjoy unique customized ice cream experience. With the success of his first franchise in Kitchener, Rob Hunter, an MSC franchisee, prepares to open his second location at Waterloo. The gross revenue of the Kitchener store, a mid-range unit, in the first year was $430,212, and the gross margin was 14.62%. The materials and wages of $226,998 were the main costs. Hunter has to make an immediate decision on which weighing policy he should adopt in his new store: should he strictly comply with head office's current weighing policy or use a modified policy according to the traffic level of the new location? Main SWOT Points Related to the Issue: The most significant strength of MSC is its premium customized product. However, weighing is extremely time-consuming, which is the weakest point of MSC since it is hard for customers who have to stand in a queue for about an hour to get the service in the busy summer time. The opportunity of Hunter’s new......

...Energy optimization in Mobile Networks University of Greenwich MSc Wireless Mobile Communication Systems engineering By: Basel Barakat I. Part one i. Introduction A. Research Area Wireless communication industry is growing exponentially. Today there are over 5 billion people use cellular phones and it is estimated that in the next four years there will be a 7 trillion wireless devices (LI-CHUN& RANGAPILLAI, 2010).The wildly spreading smart phones require a relatively high data rate, which eventually causes more power consumption. Recent studies are trying to develop a new technique for reducing the power consumption in cellular networks and making it more environment friendly, with taking the efficient power transmitting to the user on their consideration. The first mobile network consisted of only one base station; currently there are more than 4 million base stations worldwide to satisfy the huge demand on the mobile networks. On average each base station is using about 25MWh per year, which is about 60 percent of the total power consumption of mobile network (NAHAS et al., 2012). The focus of the proposed project is to increase the energy efficiency of the mobile networks without decreasing the quality of service of the mobile networks; it is combining and improving of suggested mechanisms to improve the existing mobile networks and hopefully to be implemented on future networks.
