...Company Company A will be moving part of its business overseas into Japan in the 4th quarter of 2010. In order to prepare for any cross-cultural issues or communication differences that may impact the company’s marketing approach and strategies I have prepared a brief summary of some of these challenges. I have also touched on certain cross-cultural ethical differences between Japan and the United States. Marketing Approach It is important to become aware of the culture around you. Take into consideration what the culture is, the customs, the history, the language, and communication styles. What works in the United States and Great Britain will not necessarily work in Japan too. Marketing tools like commercials, slogans, and music will need to be researched prior to any rollout. The phrases or gestures alone could be enough to damage future success in the country. Because unspoken language can often tell businesspeople something that spoken language does not, they should know something about this form of cross-cultural communication. In Japan it is not considered professional to use extreme hand gestures or facial expressions. The Japanese are very formal and will expect you to dress your part and be prompt. Business in America over the years has given way to a casual approach to business, so gird up. Communication While doing business in Japan it is important to understand the differences in communication style. In the West it is......

...managed through the board of directors with membership input and approval. CICBC donated more than $10,000.00 for fiscal year 2011 to worthy organizations. None of the other clubs are as generous as CICBC providing donations to local and national organizations. CICBC’s closest caged bird club competitors are in northern Indiana, Chicago and Cincinnati. The nature of the organization is to educate its members and the general public regarding the general welfare and keeping of exotic birds; therefore there is no real competitiveness regarding an online presence. Bird Fever is the only competition for CICBC’s bird fairs; however, CICBC is the actual threat to Bird Fever due to cutting out the middle person between breeder or supplier and the bird fair customer, which allows the customer to purchase bird toys, food and birds at a cost lower than they are able to find at Bird Fever or any other local pet shop or supply company. CICBC is faced with major challenges for the year 2012 and beyond. These include the uncertainties brought on by high unemployment rates which limit discretionary spending, price of rent and other operating costs of the club, such as speaker fees. The Board of Directors and members continue to look for ways to provide quality, low cost bird fairs, increase membership and work toward providing quality experience in the most effective and efficient manner possible with optimism for the future of this exceptional organization. ...chicken. The company takes pride in the fact that all of the recipes used to create their dishes have been passed down through many generations. This adds a unique twist to their food preparation and helps to separate Coal Mine Dragon Chinese from the competitors in the area. They also try to use notably fresh and locally grown produce whenever possible. The company operates very basically, and has hardly any type of online presence other than a few customer reviews and a contact number for the facility. Currently the company’s customer base is very local. While the amount of revenue Coal Mine Dragon Chinese brings in currently is comfortable for such a small business, they hope to expand further into the surrounding cities, state wide and one day internationally. Sales have remained steady, but there is evidence that the company may be able to increase revenue by adding an online operation. This relatively inexpensive form of expansion will also serve as a form of advertisement to new potential customers (Belew & Elad, 2009). Currently the only advertisement used is word of mouth and positive customer reviews posted online. While this form of advertisement can create a positive image for the company, it can also be relatively limited in the area it reaches. It also doesn’t provide a way for Coal Mine Dragon Chinese to respond to customer input in a timely manner. Creating an online operation will allow many different people to learn about the company as well as......

The Candy Makers will be developing a proposal for online business expansion. The proposal will include an assessment of how the business will be viable online, an assessment of current online competition, development of online marketing strategies, and utilization of social media tools to expand The Candy Makers presence online. A1: The Candy Makers offers a wide variety of candy gifts available for online purchase. Market demand is very good for these products because online shoppers buy candy products for many different reasons including, but not limited to, birthdays, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, and corporate gift giving. Considering that birthdays occur every day of the year, it stands to reason that consumers could potentially purchase candy gifts at any given time on any given day of the year, making the business functionality “useful, practical, and right for the purpose” of which The Candy Makers intended with their online store (Cambridge University Press, 2013). Moreover, other similar candy companies such as Godiva and See’s Candies have an online presence, which indicates that there is a demand for candy gifts. E-Commerce Solutions During the review of several top payment processing solutions, consideration was given to available options and features, setup costs, monthly costs, transaction costs, and ease of integration into the website and with the requisite customer relationship software solution. Google Checkout was eliminated from consideration because Google has announced that it will be discontinuing its checkout product after November 20th, 2013 (Google Support, 2013). The transaction gateway was eliminated from consideration because it would require the client to establish a separate merchant account (Authorize.Net, 2013). Our selection for a payment processing solution was the PayPal Website Payments Standard. Customers will be able to pay with either their PayPal account or with their Visa, American Express, Mastercard, or Discover credit card. The PayPal Website Payments Standard Integration Guide, pages 323-327, provides a method of using a web form to capture the billing information for each sale on the client's website in HTML input variables, and then pre-filling the PayPal payment form when the customer clicks the "submit payment" button.
