2. Business Case for the proposed change

Shelforce is a sheltered employment facility that sits within the Development directorate of Birmingham City Council. The purpose of the business is to manufacture pvc-u windows and doors whilst providing employment opportunities to disabled people.

The 3 critical success factors of Shelforce are;

* To provide employment opportunities to some of Birmingham’s most vulnerable, disabled people in a sheltered environment geared towards up skilling them for mainstream employment * To manufacture quality pvc-u windows and doors which meet the requirements of customers and focus on this as their unique selling point rather than the disabled workforce element * To promote social inclusion for people with disabilities with working with employers and educating those in order to remove the stigma attached

Shelforce has found it increasingly difficult to secure sales in the highly competitive construction market, which has been significantly impacted by the recession. Due to a lack of contingency planning the business is no longer generating enough income to accommodate its overheads. The Shelforce trading deficit increased year on year and by 2012 was considered to be unsustainable due to…...

...Renee Jones 12/12/2012 HRM 587 As I was thinking about the two companies that I wanted to do for my course project on, I began to research companies on the internet and I ran across the merger between United and Continental airlines. The reason that I choose to do the merger is because I knew that they were going to go through many changes within this merger. Both airline companies have a lot to offer to each other with this merger that they can compete with Delta airlines one of the largest airline in the world. This merger will bring about several changes within both companies. In this paper I will be providing the different changes between both companies with the merger including the culture, systems and unions. Since they were two different companies this will bring on big changes when they finally merger together. History In In the year of 2008 United Airlines CEO Glenn F. Tilton and Continental Airlines, CEO Jeffrey A. Smisek began to talk about merging both company together in order to become the largest merger ever to take place between two airlines. However, once Continental found out about United Airlines declining financial statues they declined their offer. The talk of United negotiating a merger with US Airways stunned the CEO and board members of Continental Airlines. Predictor stated that United Airlines used this tactic to allure Continent Airline to renegotiate the merger that was discussed in 2008. In 2010 a big announcement was presented......

...culture in which the research is done. Based on (Hofstede, 1983), there are 4 cultural dimensions to evaluate turnover intentions. In it, Singapore was more on being between individualism and collectivism. Comparatively, UK, Great Britain is among the top few on Individualism culture ( Dimensions of Culture). Secondly, the writer also seems to assume all countries are equally affected by the euro crisis. Although Singapore economy was affected by the Euro crisis, its effect on Singapore was not that reaching. (MAS, 2012) . Next, it seems to be assumed that there have been no changes to the business environment from the time the Journal/report/articles are published to the current year, with many citations in the 1990s. Lastly, writer projects CET solely for employees. Referencing to the (MOM, 2011), CET was set up to aid all workers, including employers. To conclude, though the article presents a relatively well formulated argument on backlash of CET, the writer should take note on the assumption he is making as well as the applicability of his supporting evidence. By generalizing culture as well as individuals across boundaries, the writer has lost some relevancy on his article. Below are some suggestion on how the writer can supplement his model. However, it is to note that applicability and ending result differ from organization to organization basing on their culture framework and type (public, non-profit etc). One suggestion is Job Satisfaction. Based on a......

...asset at the end of the Ijarah period. Alternatively, there may be an undertaking by the bank to sell the asset to the lessee at the end of the Ijarah period. However, Ijarah agreement should not be dependent either on the promise by the lessee (to purchase) or the undertaking by the bank (to sell). This arrangement is called 'Ijarah wa iqtina and it has been allowed by a vast majority of contemporary scholars and is widely used by the Islamic banks23. However, the validity of this arrangement is subject to two basic conditions: 1. The agreement of Ijarah should not have the clause regarding the lessor’s promise to gift or sell the leased property to the lessee at the end of the Ijarah period. Therefore, there should be a separate document stipulating this promise by the lessor. b) The promise should be unilateral and binding on the promisor only. It should not be a bilateral promise binding on both parties because in this case it will be a full contract becoming effective on a future date, which is not allowed in the case of sale or gift. Question No. 33) What is Bai Salam? Answer: Salam means a contract in which advance payment is made for goods to be delivered at a future date. The seller undertakes to supply some specific goods to the buyer at a future date in exchange of an advance price fully paid at the time of contract. ...Sainsbury's (A): Transforming the Supply Chain Introduction In 1869, John James and Mary Ann Sainsbury opened their first small dairy shop in London, England. Sainsbury's is now one of "the big 3" retailers in the UK grocery industry. This paper demonstrates the issues Sainsbury were involved in when implementing their new supply chain system; as the company received a lot of bad publicity and decreased their reputation. The document covers as to "what went wrong and why" and "what can be learned" from a Sainsbury directors perspective. Sainsbury and the market competition Sainsbury is committed to the quality of service of its label; because of this the competition of their rivals - Tesco, ASDA, etc - are all trying to gather the highest percentage of market share. In 1992, Sainsbury lost its cutting edge and the competition had started to make ground. In 2002 the competition in the UK grocery industry was altered. Over the years, Tesco has evolved to become the new clear cut market leader, with 26% market share. While Sainsbury's is second in the market share with 17%. In relation to supply chain systems, a benchmark study revealed a significant age difference in systems and warehousing infrastructure between Sainsbury's and its best-in-class competitors. The idea was to secure second place in the market share, breaking away from third place. Reasons for Sainsbury's new supply chain system As a result of the new study, the company came under immense pressure......

Your Ceo Has Asked You to Do Some High-Level Planning During Your Project Initiation. What Are Some of the Things That the Project Manager Should Provide to Support This Request? Do You Consider This a Wise Request

...Your CEO has asked you to do some high-level planning during your project initiation. What are some of the things that the project manager should provide to support this request? Do you consider this a wise request considering you are just initiating your project? Why or Why not? By Nana Kwabena Agyemang One of the major sources of project failure is a lack of a well-defined and formalized project initiation process which includes poor planning and poor quality requirements specification. As matter of fact, poor project planning is really common in most project initiations. Right from the project initiation, if the initial stages contains any issues it can carry on throughout the project life-cycle and the results of this is clear, project failure. This is why as a PM, you should be able to involve or bring together each and every stakeholder during project initiation to help curb out any doubts and resolve any issue before the start of the project. This initiation stage is very important because it is vital for the team who will deliver the product, for those who’s going to be the final user of the product, and for the stakeholders in the project to come into agreement on the project initiation. The PM should define the project initiation stage to include the following: * Creation of a Product Description Statement: This should be a high-level and informal, statement that will help describe the very nature or characteristics of the product or process that’s going to...

...Becoming a believer means we must have surrendered our will to the Lordship of Jesus Christ our savior. But the mind and emotions, we might not have fully surrendered to our Lord. In these circumstances either knowingly or unknowingly we are allowing the devil to have a legal hold on our mind or emotions. Through sexual sins, i.e., adultery, fornication, incest, homosexuality, rape, masturbation, lesbianism, and bestiality; all of these open doors for water spirit demonization 3.
