Film Analysis Pirates of the Caribbean

...the music. The vertical cliffs resembles how nature is supperior to human-beings and that they have to compete with it to survive. The cage is in contrast to the background, being dark with a the bright background. This makes us focus on the cage rather than anything else. The scenery seems very idylic. There is a great contrast between the music, the environment and the pirates’ situation. When the pirates climb the mountain, all lines seem to point downwards, towards the concequences they risk experiencing. (2:23). A cannibal is framed by the lines to make him stand outThe music stops here, because they don’t sway in cages anymore. The snake is a symbol of evil, and evil makes the cage fall to the underground. (3:03) Obviously they have used a green screen to manipulate the fall of the pirates. The cage is placed in the center of the screen to make our eyes focus there. Also, the gap between the cliffs seems infinite, due to the fog. It is rather comical, they are almost laughing. Again, the clash between the silent nature and the hectical cage creates clear division. The cliffs devour the pirate cage and this displays how different Man is to nature. (3:06) The painting on the cannibal, example the bark-ish paint on his torso, resembles the connection between these Carib People and the nature. (3:07) All the lines are diagonal, indicating a turbulent situation. (3:13) Skulls resembles the religion of the cannibals, becaused they used bones as a symbol of......

Pirates of Silicon Valley

...Watching the film helped me realized that the IPHONE that I’m using right now wouldn’t be possible without the brilliant idea of Steve Jobs. Mike and Steve got along very well, they conversed well and shared similar and constructive thoughts about ways to change the world and to do important things. He's quite intelligent and makes sense, although he doesn't always listen fully but then again for me he’s my favorite inventor in the entire world. After seeing Pirates of Silicon Valley, I understand the differences between being professional and intellectually inclined. Like in Steve Jobs case he can’t easily be approach without you being perfect to his eyes and because of this Bill Gates took advantage on him. How cruel and stupid Bill did to Steve, after he gotten everything to Steve Jobs he immediately relinquished the entire corporation of Steve. I felt so devastated for him perhaps because of Steve’s attitude brought him down. On the other hand of the movie, it shows that Steve is just an ordinary person who also faces failure. Every person who is already on top cannot avoid any failures in their every endeavor. Still you should fight this and continue to develop what is in your mind, not to become a failure one. The success of Steve Jobs includes his faith, passion, courage, innovation and his vision. Faith, in a way that he didn’t know what he is doing in his life and what should be his carrier all about. He still continues to pursue what he thinks and believes that......

The Pirate Bay Case Study

...1. How does The Pirate Bay business make money? What is its business model? The Pirate Bay business profits nearly $4 million a year from advertising. So advertising is their form of making money. The Pirate Bay’s business model is the “advertising revenue”. This site provides a opportunity of advertisements and receives payments from the advertisers. If more viewers use the website, the more the site can charge and increase their profits. 2. How do new “cloud-based” media sites and services make money? What is their business model? Subscription revenue is the business model that cloud-based media sites use to make money. With subscription revenue it allows access to almost all of the content or services to their viewers for a small fee. The fees for subscription vary on what kind of service the consumer wants and for how long. 3. Is the record industry justified in attempting to shut down P2P file-sharing sites that make it possible to download copyrighted media? Why or why not? Record industries are justified in wanting to stop P2P file-sharing websites. There is millions of money spent by record companies to produce albums and the work put into creating music and movies for the public. So it would be justifiable if record industries wanted to put a stop to people stealing their work and taking money out their pocket that they deserved. I would subscribe to a site for a small fee like the cloud based sites if it had the content that would fit my needs. ...

Pirates

...REACTION PAPER (PIRATES OF SILICON VALLEY) Mary grace D. Acero CS-3a The movie “PIRATES OF SILICON VALLEY” is all about how Apple and Microsoft got started. This creation was made because of the two intelligent people: Steve Jobs for Apple and Bill Gates for Microsoft. It shows how the first Apple computer was made which is the Macintosh. The movie is also about how the two intelligent persons compete to each other in order to be a successful or famous. It also shows how a good leader handles his employees or team. Just like with Steve Jobs. He is so abusive to his workers. It just like he is only the good person. He always wants to follow his decisions and not giving chance to listen to the opinions or decisions of his teammates. That’s why he had also a problem when it comes to his family. It is quite opposite to Bill Gates. Because Bill is just a simple man and he used his intelligence in good way. That’s why he succeeds much compared to Steve Jobs and became a wealthiest man in the world. I learned from that negative attitude of Steve Jobs. It teaches me not to be high regard to yourself in whatever achievements you will have. It’s because we cannot conclude what the future will holds, sometimes those who are not considered now might be the one who will succeed more. In everything we do, we should be humble. We should also consider the opinions of others. Their points of view will sometimes help us succeed not only for our own interest but to the whole......

Pirates of the Caribbean

...Pirates of the Caribbean is a series of fantasy adventure comedy films by Jerry Bruckheimer and based on Walt Disney's theme park ride of the same name. Directors of the series include Gore Verbinski (1–3), Rob Marshall (4), and Joachim Ronning & Espen Sandberg (5). The series was scripted by Terry Rossio, Ted Elliott (1–4), and Jeff Nathanson (5), with the stories following the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) . The films take place in a fictional historical setting; a world ruled largely by an amalgam of alternative, evil versions of the British Empire and the East India Company, with the pirates representing freedom from the ruling powers. The films started with their first release on the big screen in 2003 with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. After the first film's success, Walt Disney Pictures revealed that a trilogy was in the works. The franchise's second film, subtitled Dead Man's Chest , was released three years later in 2006; the sequel proved successful, breaking financial records worldwide the day of its premiere. The third film in the series, subtitled At World's End, was released in 2007. Disney released a fourth film, subtitled On Stranger Tides, on May 20, 2011 in conventional 2D, Digital 3-D and IMAX 3D. Internet Pirates Music, Movies and More

...Betty Waltermire Critical Issues in Criminal Justice JUS-250 April 28, 2014 Internet Pirates Music, Movies and More Most people like listening to good music by the artists they enjoy listening to. Music is expensive when you are on a tight budget and the belt is as tight as it can go. You must choose between getting the newest CD and gasoline for your vehicle. Of course you would choose the gasoline to get back and forth to work or wherever you may have to drive. However you might be able to download the music from your computer. Downloading itself is not illegal but, if a person puts the song on the internet; copies, sells or distributes it for profit that is a crime. No matter what excuses are used it is all a cop out. It does not change the fact that copyrighted material or songs downloaded for profit is theft if it has not been paid for (Amazon). Chances are you may know someone who downloads music or movies from online and this in itself is not illegal. It is when friends start asking if they could get this or that downloaded and they will pay you for this music or movies. The Internet is running rampant with peer to peer (p2p) networks such as LimeWire, Bit Torrent and many others. These sites are where people copy music then put it on these sites for others to copy or use. The act of downloading something illegally falls under the Copyright Act of 1976, a Federal Statute that......

Female Pirates

...Female Pirates Kristina A. Paxton (Shaarda) Excelsior College Women have been held to have particular power over the sea. There is an ancient superstition that women are not good for ships. The contradiction between woman as sea power and woman as a sea jinx is hard to understand. Women pirates however rarely brought bad luck to a ship, they were actually very good luck, and their loss to a ship often brought an end to that ships sailing days. The women that sailed the seas came from all walks of life; there were royals such as Queen Teuta of Illyria who sailed in the 200’s B.C., as well as the Irish seafaring clanswoman, Grace O’Malley, who was practically royalty in that culture in the 1500’s. There were also illegitimate daughters of maids and merchants such as Anne Bonny and Mary Read who sailed the Caribbean in the 1600’s, and finally a Chinese prostitute who controlled one of the most powerful pirate fleets the world has ever seen in the 1800’s. Female pirates were once again seen on the seas recently when a woman pirate named Sister Ping (Ching Chui Ping) smuggled Chinese immigrants to the United States and England was caught and imprisoned in 1990. The Pirate code forbade women from being on board a pirate ship, so women typically dressed and carried themselves as a man in order to become a pirate. Pirates Strangers Tides

...Hi,   Disney's latest, P.o.c- on stranger tides, is not an action entertainer as that of P.o.c - at the world's end. But it certainly has all the ingredients to keep you glued to your seats. It's an out and out johnny depp movie, where he carries it all through with ease and his usual, yet different gestures.     The plot of the movie revolves around Spaniards, British and the pirates, who are all set in search for fountain of youth. Even though it sounds same [group of people fighting for a common thing] as the previous ones, the manner in which it is dealt is gripping. As the action sequences are less in this venture, more effort have been put on comedy sequences. This is where Depp has scored immensely. Mentioning about his action sequences, the one which stood out was Depp's escape from king's palace, which was as good as any of the captain's earlier escapes.                   Apart from johnny, other noticeable performances were from Penelope Cruz, Ian Mcshane & Geoffrey Rush. Especially Ian Mcshane, in the role of Black Beard scores all through, starting from his introduction as the captain, till he is fooled to death by depp in the closing moments of the film. This legendary actor proves again why he is a valuable asset to any film. For Penelope Cruz, as Angelica, you can never take this as her best, but still she has essayed her part to perfection as the daughter of Blackbeard.           A new addition to this venture are the appearance of mermaids with......

Modern Pirates

...David Taylor Ellis INTS 2130 Analysis paper Mar 29, 2015 Modern Pirates In some fictional works pirates are portrayed in a heroic way. For example, Luffy, captain of the main band of pirates in the popular anime cartoon One Piece, is depicted as a fun loving adventurer that chases his dreams. He is a character to be emulated. Unfortunately, the modern day Somali pirates of East Africa have that similar effect on some of the Somali people. According to the African Economic Development Institute (AEDI), the bigger and more sophisticated European and Asian fishing ships took advantage of the governmental collapse and the ensuing civil war in Somalia in 1991. With permission of the corrupt military leaders and landlords, they greedily over-fished leaving the poor Somalian fishermen with very little. By 1997, several European countries had polluted Somali waters with their waste worsening the problem for the locals. This forced the Somali fishermen to become the Somali pirates (AEDI 5). Pirates are very wealthy men in their country. In a place where everyone suffers in poverty, a little wealth can seem like the cowl of a cape crusader. Despite their reasoning, the actions of the Somali Pirates are negatively affecting Somalia, neighboring countries and the countries who are taking anti-piracy measures to stop them. In 2010 it is estimated that pirates indirectly cost their neighbors about 125 billion dollars (“Maritime piracy costs”). Egypt is losing revenue that comes......

...stated in the delivery order from the mill. But when the tankers arrived at the refineries, the quantities delivered were short. * Suspected palm oil theft occurred between the mills and the refineries. * If Oilene decided to not renew their contract in June 2009, PHSB will not be profitable in 2010. 2.0 PROBLEMS We are viewing the problems as Oilene Refineries Sdn Bhd’s (Oilene) perspective against Palm Haul Sdn Bhd (PHSB), which they contracted to transport crude palm oil (CPO) from the mills to their refineries. There are 3 major issues: 1. Poor Quality of CPO The crude palm oil (CPO) received by Oilene from PHSB is low quality. The CPO transported from mills to refineries is being siphoned off by the oil pirates and is contaminated with liquid like water, used oil or sludge. The suspected culprits may include tanker drivers, transporters and depot operators. Because of the low quality of CPO received, Oilene need to shut down their processing plant to clean out the sludge almost every week. This incur high expenses (i.e. repairing cost and maintenance cost, time lost, low production) and not to mention their failure to meet delivery order by customers. 2. Insufficient Quantity of CPO CPO consignments received from PHSB did not tally with the amounts listed on the delivery order. Oilene was not able to meet production demand. It is suspected that CPO theft were rampant among the PHSB drivers. 3. Failure to Meet Order Delivery......

Teach Like a Pirate

...Teach Like A Pirate Part 1 of Teach Like a Pirate is divided into 6 sections: Passion, Immersion, Rapport, Ask and Analyze, Transformation, and Enthusiasm. Passion can be divided into content passion, professional passion and personal passion. A teacher who is fully immersed in the moment has a special type of intensity that resonates with great power in the classroom, regardless of the activity. Building rapport is all about interacting with your students as fellow human beings, not just subordinates. Rapport is important because it helps create buy-in. Ask and Analyze says that if you consistently ask questions that lead to creative and outside-the-box thinking, your mind will provide you with creative and outside-the-box answers. The Honda Odyssey example is so true! Transformation deals with reframing. A teachers job is to create a mental paradigm shift by reframing the content and its value and relevancy to their lives. Enthusiasm is contagious. Your attitude carries with it your single most powerful tool to influence your classroom. Part 2 of Teach Like a Pirate discusses crafting engaging lessons. I learned many ideas from Dave Burgess’ hooks. I liked “Move It, Move It”. It encourages kinesthetic activities in the classroom. We do a lot of music and movement in Kindergarten. I have also used the “People Prop” hook by having groups make human letters with their bodies. (ex: making the letter A by laying on the floor) The “Picasso” hook is......

I would subscribe to a site for a small fee like the cloud based sites if it had the content that would......
