Personal Career Goal Paper When we are children, most of us have big dreams or aspirations to be someone or something big when we are old enough. Perhaps of the most common things we choose range from being a police officer, a doctor, a singer, or in my case- a cashier. However it is not until we hit our adolescence that our perception of what we really want to do drastically changes to sometimes more realistic things like being a hair stylist or dental assistant. Our perceptions change into things that are more reachable for the realization of what we once wanted to be takes much more to get there than initially realized. It was not until I met with my counselor and realized that without her help I would not be here today. It then became clear that I wanted to help others through therapy and be able to look back on my life and realize I had done some good in this world to benefit others in their relationships. I located an article in the University of Phoenix library titled, "Sex Addiction and Marriage and Family Therapy: Facilitating individual and relationship healing through couple therapy." I will further summarize the article, explain how this career aligns with my professional interests, and describe how I would develop my skills in this field based on the information in the article and the readings. This article overall relates the role of recent internet-based sexual behaviors and how it has resulted in those addicts having easier access to feed their sex addiction, creating new sex addicts who were never before, and the impact of such sex addiction on the addict, partner, and the couple (Bird, 2006). Not only has the internet opened the door to current addicts to feed their addiction, but also offers potential addicts easy access. Sex addictions range anywhere from mild to…...

...Phoenix could instill in me the tools that I need to reach my life’s goal. My goal to develop a Professional Special Event Consulting Company will be accessible with the skills that I will learn from the University of Phoenix. One day I had an epiphany. I realized what I wanted to do with my life. After four years of wandering, I finally hit the spot. I wanted to become a professional special events consultant. Why, you might ask. Well, I love weddings, the process, the emotions, the beauty and sacredness of it. I believe that I will make a good coordinator because I love to please people and my patience very seldom will run thin. When I realized the career path I wanted to travel, my friend encouraged me to get some training. So I searched the World Wide Web for schools that teach people how to become professional special events consultants. Eventually, I found a wonderful program at Education Direct. After I applied, my mother and I had a very interesting conversation. She led me to see the disadvantages of working for someone and not being your own boss. She pleaded with me to go back to school to learn the skills as well as the tools of owning a business. A mentor of mine gave me some information about the University of Phoenix. So I went online and became very intrigued with its program. When I met with one of the academic counselor, I felt welcomed. I knew that this is the place for me. Career Goals

...typical of every different circumstance that I encountered. I don’t just stick to one group of friends, I have many different friends that are nothing alike. In high school there are people that stick to just one click but I wasn’t one of them. I hung out with the nerds/geeks, preppy kids, jocks, rejects, etc. I got along with everyone and didn’t care which group of friends I hung out with on the weekend. I just went wherever I felt was going to be more fun for that night. I say this because it relates to many different aspects of my life. When I think about my career goals I could see myself doing many different things. I do things at the spur of the moment and my likes and dislikes change all the time. It is those reasons why I find it very hard to plan for my future. In this paper I will try to let you in on some of my career and life goals. Although I do not have everything figured out I do have certain goals that don’t necessarily pertain to a specific job title but can be related to a general field and general idea of where I want to be in the future. When I was in high school I didn’t apply myself like I should have. I honestly believe that I can do anything I set my mind to. Unfortunately in high school I put my mind to hanging out with friends and sports and didn’t leave much for my academics. Although I didn’t put myself in a position to succeed in high school I do believe that this helped me in the long run. I didn’t get to have that “college experience”......

Personal Goals

...Personal Goals Houa Chang HCS/301 June 17, 2013 Dale Mueller Goals, as we define them, are to have a set outcome. We invent them out of fantasy of how we want our lives to be, we cannot predict our future, so setting goals helps guide us. When we set goals it does not end when we achieve that goal. We accomplish the goal, we immediately look to the next goal, therefore I have set out my professional short and long -term goals. Some of them include professional, personal, and when I plan on completing these goals. I have also taken into consideration barriers that I may come across throughout my journey. Personal Goals Setting goals helps us to determine where we vision ourselves in the future. It encourages us to strive for better opportunities that allow for individual growth. My idea of nursing is to be a patient advocate and use effective communication. Ethnicity, religion, and an individual’s background plays an important role but that is why nursing is so diverse and special. It allows each of us to set out short and long- term goals to improve ourselves. As stated by Cynthia O’Neal, (November 2004). Journal of Nursing Education, 43 (11), 524. “In today’s health care environment, baccalaureate nurses must be prepared to use essential leadership skills to manage and coordinate teams of care.” Professional Short -Term Goal My personal short-term goal is to obtain a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing. I want......

...professional and personal goals attainable. Professional Goals Going back to school after 15 years is quite a challenge, setting short-term goals is a necessary step to achieving my long-term professional goal. My short-term goal is to go back to school to receive my BSN. To complete the requirements to obtain this degree, I need to find a balance between work and school and learn to manage my time effectively. It is crucial for my success to figure out the best way to balance school obligations while continuing to work full-time and take care of my family responsibilities. One would think that nurses working full-time with family obligations would have a higher level of stress and this in turn would lead to burnout. Research shows if a nurse going back to school has support from their employer and family, the incidences of burnout decrease (Dick & Anderson, 1993). To reach my ultimate goal there are other short-term goals that need to be achieved, such as improving my computer skills, learning to write papers, and learning the nuances of participating in online classes while working with a team online. By achieving these short-term goals and receiving my bachelor’s degree, I will have the opportunity to achieve my long-term goal and leave bedside nursing to take a position in administration or education. These different options in leadership positions will allow my opinions to be heard regarding the future of nursing care. Personal Goals When......

Personal Goals Paper

...Personal Goals Paper Success begins with goal-setting. Without goals, there is a lack of focus and direction. Many people will often avoid setting goals because it seems too hard. Goal setting is about more than just thinking about them, it is about putting thoughts down on paper to see them. This makes goal setting much easier, especially when writing the goals down is what motivates each individual person. Goal writing must be in time frames, and must be measurable, and at the very least, doable. Setting unrealistic goals can result in the abandonment of all goals; therefore, a good plan needs to be laid-out on paper. This leads to successful goals. Hence, successful goal setting begins with good time management, identifying early potential barriers, and acquiring the needed skills to accomplish each goal. Good time management is the key to successful goal setting and achievement. Taking the time to create, tweak, add, delete or reconstitute goals is the biggest deterrent, and also the largest component for success in goal setting. According to O’Neill (2000), goals need to be set. Writing goals down on a piece of paper can go a long way. Goals should be specific. This means knowing who is involved, what to accomplish, and where it would take place. Next, goals should be measurable. When time frames are met, milestones should be measured and celebrated or reconstructed with a new time frame in mind. Goals should also be timely. A time frame of when a goal should be......
