PolyU student scores top internship
Over the summer many students travel around the world, but one Polytechnic University student gained work experience overseas in Australia, interning for eight weeks at the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Sydney to help foster relations between Hong Kong and Australia. Second year Engineering/Physics student Ricky Tsui has been working with the public relations department, helping promote Hong Kong to an overseas audience through social media, media releases and events planning. “During the internship I’ve learnt a lot of new skills, like how to put together media lists, media releases and how to handle media interviews. These are skills that will definitely come in handy in my career,” said Ricky. The highly-sought-after internships are open to university students in Hong Kong each year and provide an opportunity to work overseas and experience a different lifestyle. “Having spent a semester in Germany for exchange, I was keen to go to elsewhere for more international experience. Australia is a lovely country and to be able to intern for the Hong Kong government during my stay here is a big bonus,” said Ricky. Ricky, together with Joanna Leung and Kwan Leung, interns from Chinese University and the Hong Kong Institute of Education, also worked on a strategy to help promote Hong Kong to a youth audience, which includes young professionals, tertiary and secondary students. Ricky said this was an important exercise to change the perception that Hong Kong was just a place for finance Ricky encourages Polytechnic University students to apply for future internships at HKETO. “The internship jumped out at me because it had a strong international focus and provides interns with hands-on, practical work. It’s definitely a worthwhile experience,” he said. About HKETO The HKETO is the…...

...Nicolas Romero THEO201 B29 Short Essay # 1 Short Essay on Bibliography Bibliology from the Greek word βιβλιογραφία, bibliographia, is book writing. On its own it simply means the study of the bible. With it come the ideas of inspirations and inerrancy. The Bible is both and can be seen in its content. Being a once three time born-again Catholic, did all the steps while living with my parents, I can relate to having to be confident that what the bible says is true to its nature. The authority of the Bible comes from the Bible itself. We must begin with the beginning. Like it says in the Bible the beginning of all is with God. So with this we must begin with God himself. This is evident in Exodus 4:22 (New American Standard Bible), ‘…Thus says the Lord,’ and many other verses just like it. This happens numerous times in the bible that no one can take away anything different than that. Also, it says in Hebrews 6:13, ‘for when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself.’ This is what makes God authority over everything. This direct quote explains who God really is and where he gets his authority from. Thus the Bible being the spoken words of God this also makes the Bible have authority. Inspiration as defined by Towns(Theology for Today, 897) is, ‘the supernatural guidance of the writers of Scripture by the Spirit of God, whereby what they wrote became the divine Word of God, transcribed accurately, reliably...

...Annotated Bibliography Shin, Grace. "Video Games: A Cause of Violence and Aggression." Serendip. N.p., 4 Jan. 2010. Web. 19 July 2010. . This is a good article for my paper because it discusses how video games cause more violent tendencies in people who play violent video games than people who don’t. It states, with several other good references that people who play violent video games are more prone to repeat what they see in the game. If the game is violent then their heart rate and adrenaline increase which could cause hostility. Sometimes, people actually get desensitized to killing because they do it in video games. Fagin, Claire, Pam Maraldo, and Dianna Mason. "Increasing Public Understanding of Nursing." NursingAdvocacy.org. N.p., 4 Jan. 2007. Web. 19 July 2010. . Identity was positively associated with excitement for women but negatively associated for men. There were gender differences in motives. Men scored higher on identity and excitement, when women scored higher than did men on compliance and grievance. Women were more likely to have compliance as a primary motivation. ...GODF A bibliography is not just “works cited.” It is all the relevant material you drew upon to write the paper the reader holds. If you read any articles or books in preparing you paper, you need a bibliography or footnotes. If you cite the arguments of “critics” and “supporters,” even if you don’t name them or quote them directly, you are likely referring to information you read in books or articles as opposed to information you’ve gathered firsthand, like a news reporter, and so you need a bibliography. If you quote sources and put some of the reference information in the text, you still need a bibliography, so that readers can track down the source material for themselves. If you use footnotes to identify the source of your material or the authors of every quote, you DO NOT need a bibliography, UNLESS there are materials to which you do not refer directly (or if you refer to additional sections of the materials you already referenced) that also helped you reach your conclusions. In any event, your footnotes need to follow the formatting guidelines below. How to Write a Bibliography These guidelines follow those of the American Psychological Association and may be slightly different than what you’re used to, but we will stick with them for the sake of consistency. Notice the use of punctuation. Publication titles may be either italicized or underlined, but not both. Books Books are the bibliography format with which you’re probably most familiar. Books......

...Mediated Perceptions of Women and Female Adolescents: An Annotated Bibliography Green, C. (2013, April). The effects of romantic comedies on women and female adolescents. Paper presented at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), University of Wisconsin La Crosse, WI. In the article, Green points out how romantic comedies alter women’s and female adolescents’ perceptions of romantic relationships. She refers to Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory (as cited in Green, 2013) to explain how they learn from observation and copy behaviors that are depicted by romantic comedies. She advocates that romantic comedies cause women to have high expectations of their romantic relationships and that these movies or series support conventional patriarchal ideals and post-feminist ideologies. She explains that romantic comedies make women believe that the behaviors of the male partners that are depicted in the shows are truly ideal and should be expected in a romantic relationship. With all these explanations, the article answers my research question directly as can be predicted from its title. The article’s being supported with Social Cognitive Theory and concrete examples makes it more reliable. Moreover, it is quite recent. Johnson, K. R., & Holmes, B. M. (2009, July-September).
