Explore the Relationship Between Amir and Baba.

...Explore the relationship between Amir and Baba. Throughout the novel The Kite Runner, the relationship between Amir and Baba has many ups and downs, the reader sees it broaden as Amir grows older and it is clear that deep down their relationship is strong. Amir tells the reader during his dream that he ‘can never tell Baba from the bear.’ This gives the impression that Baba is strong and rugged in appearance. It is important that the reader knows that Baba is the narrator’s father; due to the unconditional love we expect between father and son, Amir’s opinion may well be biased. Indirectly, the reader can make an opinion on Baba, and his relationship with Amir, through his speech and actions as described by Amir. The reader is told that ‘Baba heaved a sigh of impatience.’ This shows that Baba, unlike most fatherly figures has very little patience with Amir and even the smallest things that Amir does seems to get on his nerves. Hosseini suggests that Amir is some what intimidated by Baba from the quotation ‘My father was a force of nature, a towering Pashtun specimen with a thick beard, a wayward crop of curly brown hair as unruly as the man himself,’ The metaphor ‘My father was a force of nature’ suggests an essence of fear; the character of Baba is not to be reckoned with. The reader is presented with imagery of a storm at sea or a hurricane as Rahim Khan Nicknames Baba. This could suggest an element of incomparable strength, recklessness and perhaps the tendency of......

The Marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet

...The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet The definition of a good marriage is the perception of the judge. When considering who is to blame for the Bennet's marriage, it must be said that it depends on which perspective is being considered. Jane Austen's portrayal of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet's union leads us to believe this was not a match made in Heaven. However, if the marriage is looked at from different perspectives such as; Mr. Bennet’s, Mrs. Bennet’s, circumstance, or society’s, they provide opposing views of happiness and who is to blame in the absence of joy. After all are considered, is the marriage that bad? A person’s reasons to get married are essential in determining whether or not they can be happy. Society dictated that the Bennet's marriage was contractually imperative for both of them. Mrs. Bennet wanted to be secure and accepted a proposal that she thought would be acceptable. Mr. Bennet wanted a wife to take care of his needs and give him children, preferably a son. Both were tolerable to the other in the beginning and entered into the marriage with freewill. Early in the novel we learn the Bennet's marriage is portrayed as ill-fitted. They appear to be two opposites in humor, character, tact and priorities. In Chapter 1 we read: Mr. Bennet was so odd a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice, that the experience of three-and-twenty years had been insufficient to make his wife understand his character. Her......

...improve its operating profit. It was mainly pertaining to less significant difference between cost of sales and revenue. In that event, the company resorted to borrowing short-term loans from the bank in order to meet these operating obligations. This in turn increased its financial obligations in terms of interest payments and caused more losses to the company. In addition, the financial position becomes worse as EPM continues to supply products to Cold Gold Sdn Bhd even though their credit limit had already exceeded. This leads to the increasing of trade receivables and trade creditors because EPM did not collect its customers’ debt. It also cannot pay its own debt. The receivable collection in this company is out of control. As example, Mr. Siva (a retailer) complained that the figures on the statement of accounts sent to him were incorrect. He had no outstanding balance in his accounts as cash payments had been made to Encik Munir (one of the former personnel in finance department). This proves that the company’s accounts are not in proper order and there is possibility of misstatements in their accounts. Lack of internal control in EPM leave a loop hole for Encik Munir and Encik Selamat to cause these problems. Other than that, EPM’s credit controller (Ms Choy) discovered that Encik Selamat (General Manager) has close relationship with one of the executive directors of Cold Gold Sdn. Bhd., Encik Azman. This relationship has enabled Cold Gold to extend its credit......

Mr Bean

...A.K.A Mr. Bean Youth nowadays focuses on gathering information about some popular celebrities and among those , Bean is the most searched one. This man needs no introduction; rather a smile surprisingly appears on one’s face after a glimpse of him comes in anyone’s mind. The actor behind this hilarious series is Rowan Atkinson and this person is the writer of a major part of the same...Surprised!!..., you better be, because it’s the truth. Bean seldom murmurs and the mainly physical humor is educed from his interactions with other people and his astonishing solutions to the situations. Teddy is kind of Mr. Bean’s life partner. The teddy is dark brown, affixed abnormally button eyes and sausage-shaped limbs. Despite of the fact that the teddy is defunct, Mr. Bean pretends it to be alive. Buying him a Christmas present or trying not to wake it in the mornings are some examples of the same. Now talking about Mr. Bean’s car, it was a British Leyland Mini 1000 of applejack green color. The locking system of the car was immensely innovative and how Mr. Bean parks his car was noticeable. The famous chair incident was a running joke throughout the series. Apart from the television and an animated cartoon series, a couple of movies were also adapted, namely “Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie” in 1997 and “Mr. Bean's Holiday” in 2007. The film follows Bean on a crucial journey across France for a holiday which after a number of hardships ends up in a screening of his video diary at......

Mr Dewey

...Mr. Donald Dewey 4321 Mt. Vernon Road Dover, DE 19901 Dear Mr. Dewey, As you have asked me for advice on the matter of Income tax last time we met at the local Chamber of Commerce, included in this letter is the information you requested. Facts: Don and Mary Dewey are successful professionals who have a combined AGI of approximately $400,000. Their household includes two children: Debra (age 16) and Van (age 23). Van is not a student but works a part time job where he earns $16000. The father Don wants to know if Van (his son) can claim Debra (his younger sister) as a qualified child for income tax purposes. Issue: If Van can treat Debra as his qualifying child, he qualifies for a dependency exemption, the child tax credit, and the earned income tax credit. On the other hand, if you and your wife claim Debra, the only benefit available to you is the dependency exemption. The reason being is that your income is too high to permit the use of either the child tax credit or earned income tax credit. Although the dependency exemption yields a greater tax benefit to you than to your son Van, the tax saving is by far outweighed by the unavailability of the two credits. For that reason, the family would save taxes if Van claims Debra as his qualifying child. In such a case, you would have to forgo the dependency exemption for Debra. Analysis: A qualified taxpayer may claim a person as a qualified child only if he or she has an AGI that is higher than the AGI of......

Mrs Pinchwife

...are introduced to the characters Alithea; pinchwife's sister, and Mrs Pinchwife; pinchwife's wife. In the last scene that Pinchwife appeared in (act 1 scene 1) the audience have learned that he is a jealous person so they immediately expect this to become all the more apparent in this scene. In historical context, back in the 1600's being made a cuckold was every husbands biggest fear, and in the character of Pinchwife this is highlighted. Also in the theatre of the 1600's there would have been a back row where you would sit if you didn't want to be seen, Pinchwife make he and his wife sit here on purpose because he doesn't want any of the young fop of the city to see his beautiful wife; he's an overprotective and jealous man. During this scene Mrs Pinchwife asks her husband to take her to the theatre so she can see the sights of the city because she has never seen them before (she's a country wife), to which Pinchwife reacts very negatively as his sister has filled his wife's head with ideals and dreams of city life; exactly what he wanted to keep Mrs Pinchwife away from. My interpretation of the character of Mrs Pinchwife is that she's a very naive person who has missed out on an exciting early life due to her husbands jealousy, but I could see her easily becoming manipulated by the likes of Horner because of how unexposed she has been to city life, she's too innocent and vulnerable. The character of Mrs Pinchwife in this scene would be a challenge to play due to her......

But Mr. Brooks has a terrible secret that he has been able to hide from everyone. That terrible secret happens to be that he is a psychopathic serial killer who is known in media as the “Thumbprint Killer.” Being a wealthy, successful businessman recently honored by the Portland, Oregon, Chamber of Commerce as "Man of the Year" as well as a philanthropist no one has ever suspected him. Being unable to control his horrific addiction, Brooks gives in to his sadistic, all too real alter ego “Marshall” played by William Hurt. A pesky, voyeuristic witness “Mr. Smith,” played by Dane Cook catches him in the act of his latest crime. The rush that Mr. Smith felt after seeing Mr. Brooks brutally kill a couple he used to watch and take pictures of while engaging in sexual activities has set him on a path of destruction and he is taking all the wrong steps to get there. Then there’s the detective, “Tracy Atwood,” played by Demi Moore who has been on the case for quite some time without Mr. Brooks knowledge of it adds a few twists and turns to an already terrifying game of cat and mouse. The way the script has been written, is a “moral” one. You have a man, “Mr. Brooks” who is......
