বর্তমান সরকারের চলতি মেয়াদে রাষ্ট্রয়াত্ব ব্যাংকেতর বেসরকারী অংশীদ্বারিত্ব বাড়ানো হবে বলে মন্তব্য করেছেন অর্থমন্ত্রী আবুল মাল আবদুল মুহিত।বৃহস্পতিবার সকালে রাজধানীর সোনারগাওঁ হোটেলে জনতা ব্যাংক লিমিটেডের বার্ষিক সম্মেলন-২০১৪ উপলক্ষে আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্ত্যেবে তিনি এই কথা বলেন।
অর্থমন্ত্রী বলেন,রাষ্ট্রয়াত্ব ব্যাংকগুলোতে বেসরকারী অংশীদ্বারিত্ব বাড়ানো প্রয়োজন। বর্তমান সরকারের চলতি মেয়াদে এটি কারা হবে।
অর্থমন্ত্রীর এই বক্ত্যবের বিরোধীতা করে জনতা ব্যাংক পরিচালনা পর্ষদের চেয়ারম্যান ড. আবুল বারাকাত বলেন, রাষ্ট্রয়াত্ব ব্যাংকে শেয়ার বাজার আনার বিষয়টিতো আইএমএফের প্রেশক্রিপশন।তারা তো আর্থিক নয় পলেটিক্যাল প্রতিষ্ঠান। এটি করা হলে এই খাতে নেতিবাচক প্রভাব পড়বে। কারণ বেসরকারী শেয়ার বাড়ানো হলে কিছুদিন পরে শেয়ারহোল্ডারা এসে নিজেদের ব্যাংকের মালিক দাবী করবে।
অনুষ্ঠানে অর্থমন্ত্রী বলেন.ব্যাংকিং খাতের অলস সম্পদের যে পাহাড় জমেছে তা সাময়িক। ব্যাংকিং খাত প্রসার হচ্ছে। প্রসারিত হওয়া মানে অলস সম্পদের ব্যবহার বাড়ছে।এছাড়া মানি মার্কেটের উল্থান পতনে থেকে বুঝা যায় এটা সাময়িক সমস্যা।
ব্যাংকিং খাতের অনিয়মের বিষয়ে অর্থমন্ত্রী বলেন, হলমার্কের ঘটনার পর দেশে ব্যাংকিং খাতে পর্যবেক্ষণ বেড়েছ।এছাড়া জালিয়াতি ও অনিয়মের সাথে যারা জড়িত তাদের বিরুদ্বে ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার দ্বায়িত্ব সরকার যথাযথভাবে সম্পন্ন করছে।যা এই খাতের উন্নয়নে সাহায্য করছে।এছাড়া ব্যাংকের নিয়োগ বিধি নিয়ে সরকার কাজ করছে বলে জানিয়েছেন অর্থমন্ত্রী।
বিশেষ অতিথির বক্ত্যেবে অর্থ প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন,বঙ্গবন্ধুর স্বপ্ন ছিল আর্থিক খাতে ব্যাংকের সাধারণ মানুষের মালিকানা থাকবে।এই কারণে জনতা সোনালী,রুপালি,জনতা ও অগ্রনী ব্যাংক প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয়েছে।তবে সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে কিছু অনিয়মের ঘটনায় এই খাত নিয়ে সাধারণ মানুষের মধ্যে কিছু নেতিবাচক ধারণা সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। আমরা ব্যাংকের দৈনিন্দিন কাজে হস্তক্ষেপ করি না। গ্রামীণ জনগণকে ব্যাংকিং সেবা দেওয়াটা সিএসআরএসের মধ্যে পড়তে পারে।
অনুষ্ঠানে জনতা ব্যাংকের পরিচালনা পর্ষদের পরিচালকরা ছাড়াও ব্যাংকির উর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তারা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
