There was a night when I was working at the bar and two people walked one was slightly intoxicated and the other was fine. Before serving them I carded both individuals and both ID’s stated that they were 22 years old, however the person who was slightly intoxicated had an ID that was expired. Under Nebraska State Law all ID’s must be valid in order to serve anyone alcohol. I explained to them that I would be unable to serve the one individual who promptly got upset and started cussing me out. His friend told him to calm down and that they would leave but he wanted to have a drink and a shot. I calmly explained to him that it would be illegal for me to give him anything and asked them both to leave. After a few minutes back and forth the other bartender and I walked from behind the bar and had to physically remove him. Luckily his friend was understanding and didn’t try to get involved (probably because there were two of us that and we had warned him a couple of times that if he couldn’t get him out that we would). The Difference between issues & personalities would be that one person was intoxicated so his personality was altered causing him to blow the issue way out of proportion. The difference between interest and position was that it was in my best interest not to serve him due to him not having valid identification and the fact that he was intoxicated already so I should not have and his position being he was drunk and wanted to keep drinking. Options vs Proposals are a little different; I had multiple options in this case, some good and some bad. There was only really one correct option no matter what the person proposed I do (by trying to bribe me with extra money; etc.) I was going to choose the correct option.
