Learning Activity #2
Discuss the potential problems that would arise from exporting CDs and books to countries with high political risk. What might happen to sales in these countries?

Intellectual property, which include copyrights, patents, trademarks, and brand names, is a vital asset of most MNCs (multinational corporations) and a major problem in the export of CDs and books to politically high risk countries due to the growing threat of theft or piracy of intellectual property rights (IPR). ...process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience” (1984, p. 38). The theory presents a cyclical model of learning, consisting of four stages shown below. One may begin at any stage, but must follow each other in the sequence: • concrete experience (or “DO”) • reflective observation (or “OBSERVE”) • abstract conceptualization (or “THINK”) • active experimentation (or “PLAN”) Figure 1. Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle. Kolb’s four-stage learning cycle shows how experience is translated through reflection into concepts, which in turn are used as guides for active experimentation and the choice of new experiences. The first stage, concrete experience (CE), is where the learner actively experiences an activity such as a lab session or field work. The second stage, reflective observation (RO), is when the learner consciously reflects back on that experience. The third stage, abstract conceptualization (AC), is where the learner attempts to conceptualize a theory or model of what is observed. The fourth stage, active experimentation (AE), is where the learner is trying to plan how to test a model or theory or plan for a forthcoming experience. Kolb identified four learning styles which correspond to these stages. The styles highlight conditions under which learners learn better. These styles are: • assimilators, who learn better when presented with sound logical theories to consider • convergers, who learn better when provided with......

He could request the meeting be postponed due to the absence of his partner, without whom he cannot complete the presentation. He also could let it be known that he saw Sara at the gas station on his way to work this morning and discredit her. Another option would be for Jim to pick up the slack and put together a presentation with the material he has. 2. What does he actually know and what does he think he knows? Does it matter? b. Jim knows that Sara called out sick and that he does not have her slides for the presentation. He also knows that he is to give a big presentation to the CEO today. He thinks he knows that she isn’t actually sick, but rather skipping the presentation. This matters only if Jim lets it distract him from the task at hand. 3. How could he apply the character qualities you’ve learned about so far (persistence, enthusiasm, optimism, and self-control) in this situation? c. Jim could be persistent and enthusiastic by putting together a presentation with the time he has so that the meeting will not have to be rescheduled. In doing so, having optimism, perhaps the CEO will see that Jim had pulled off the presentation even with his coworker being absent, which could potentially lead to a promotion. Jim needs to show self-control in that he should not mention seeing someone who looked like Sara at the gas station. That information is......

...Explore Activity 2 Local Access and Transport Areas – Local Access and Transport Area is a U.S. term that refers to a geographic region assigned to one or more telephone companies for providing communication services. A connection between two telephone companies within the same region is referred to as intraLATA. A connection between two local exchange carriers in different regions is called interLATA, which is the same as long-distance service. Long Distance – Calling anywhere out of your local area or zip code area that you live in can be long distance calling. Although land lines only bill to the person starting the call, Cell phone carriers bill both the person calling and the person receiving the call. This is why many people don’t do long distance calling because the other person may not want to receive the charge for the call. Local Loop – In telephony, a local loop is the wired connection from a telephone company's central office in a locality to its customers' telephones at homes and businesses. This connection is usually on a pair of copper wires called twisted pair.
