John Smith vs John Winthrop

...Jessica Helin Paper 1 U.S. History 1 GEN223 John Smith vs. John Winthrop In the early years of America, there was a great deal of political and religious turmoil occurring in England. People wanted to escape to a place where they wouldn't be outlawed for their independent congregations and personal philosophies that they believed in. Eminent men, like John Smith and John Winthrop, saw America as a great opportunity to start over where they could establish new communities separated and undisturbed by England. They each wrote a proposal to the people of England to recruit them to come and help establish colonies in the New World. Both of these men had very different visions of what America was and what they wanted it to become upon their arrivals. Smith believed in the importance of hardworking to achieve wealth and the option of becoming financially independent. While Winthrop was concerned with working for God and averting selfishness to form a community with a close bond. John Smith was an English adventurer and soldier well known for his many adventures to different lands. Smith saw the New World as a place for people to set out on a journey for economic success. In his mind, America had resources that were waiting to be discovered for both utilization and profit. In a Description of Virginia, Smith communicates that in the New World, there is a definitive likelihood for many successful business enterprises by saying, 'the fertility of the soil, and the......

La Ultima Cena

...La Ultima Cena In an ideal world, mankind would live in peace with all others. One could look to another person and judge them etiquette, moral or even social value. However, humans have gone through many dark times, usually involves the intolerance that mankind has for one another. Whether it is an disagreement on religion, a power struggle for land or the development of society, if there is one thing humans are consistent in is that we do not play nice. However, for people to judge each other on a superficial and meaningless factor such as color is truly bewildering, considering all the many things that makes us different. Because of this type of judgmental mentality, superiority complexes were soon followed, putting specific groups at the top of the food chain. Sadly, those of African descendance would bare the burden of being slaves, in every meaning of the words, to a vast majority of the world due the ignorance of the human race. The movie, The Last Supper, by Tomas Gutierrez Alea depicts the interaction and relationships of the denizens of a sugar plantation in Cuba during the eighteen hundreds. All from the Count to the overseer and slaves had ways of interacting with one another, which was mostly decided on their race and social status. The movie deals with various topics that defined that era in time and there are many reoccurring themes in the movie that can be seen in other periods of time and places. In this paper, many aspects of black culture will be......

... the essay will pursue the relationships between the grandmother, the misfit, and the son, John Wesley and his Mother and their last minute, virtuous moments right before Gods jurisdiction is handed upon them. John Wesley realizes that his actions anytime before that moment were inexcusable towards his mother, but now it is too late as he is murdered in the woods and the grandmother’s having her salvation just before the Misfit eradicates her as well. Annotated Bibliography Yao, Tianyuan Ben. "A Test of Faith: Analysis on “A Good Man is Hard to Find”." A Journal of Academic Writing (2013): 10. Yao explores, summarizes, and annotates the relationships between the Grandmother and the Roman Catholic Faith. She identifies that the grandmother puts herself and her life before that of anyone else’s which directly contradicts Christian beliefs. The grandmother continuously shows her lack of true Christian faith as she attempts to use God to save her life and as soon as she realizes it is not working she reverts to bribing the misfit. “The grandmother is also shown to care more for her life than her family’s wellbeing. Instead of speaking up for her young grandchildren, she begs to The Misfit, “You wouldn't shoot a lady, would you?” (587). Her concern for her family seems to diminish at this critical point. These traits are far from Christian teachings (see Isaiah 1:17, Psalm 82:3, John 15:13). In the desperation of begging for her life, the grandmother even uses God. The......

While Bauckham attributes this Gospel to “the presbyter John” mentioned by Papias, the authors of this study show that the patristic evidence more likely seems to support the authorship of John the apostle and that the literary device of inclusio in the Fourth Gospel, astutely observed by Bauckham, also favors the authorship of John the son of Zebedee. Key Words: Fourth Gospel, Beloved Disciple, John, authorship, apostle, Zebedee, John the Elder, Papias, Eusebius, Muratorian Fragment, Polycrates, Irenaeus, Bauckham Introduction Recent years have witnessed a significant number of publications on the identity of “the disciple Jesus loved” in John’s Gospel. The ever more daring proposals have included identifications of this figure as diverse as the apostle Thomas, Mary Magdalene, Lazarus, James the son of Zebedee, and even the Samaritan woman, among others. 1 Most recently, Richard Bauckham has weighed in on this debate in his landmark volume Jesus and the 1. John Doe

...John Doe is sometimes used to refer to a typical male in other contexts as well, in a similar manner to John Q. Public in the United States or Joe Public, John Smith or Joe Bloggs in Britain. For example, the first name listed on a form might be John Doe, along with a fictional address or other fictional information to provide an example of how to fill in the form. The name is also used frequently in US popular culture, for example in the Frank Capra film Meet John Doe. John Doe was also the name of a 2002 American television series. Similarly, a child or baby whose identity is unknown may be referred to as Baby Doe. A notorious murder case in Kansas City, Missouri, referred to the baby victim as Precious Doe.[3] Other unidentified female murder victims have also been nicknamed by the public or investigators as "Cali Doe" and "Princess Doe". Additional persons may be called James Doe, Judy Doe, etc. However, to avoid possible confusion, if two anonymous or unknown parties are cited in a specific case or action, the surnames Doe and Roe may be used simultaneously; for example, "John Doe v. Jane Roe". If several anonymous parties are referenced, they may simply be labelled John Doe #1, John Doe #2, etc. (the U.S. Operation Delego cited 21 (numbered) "John Doe"s) or labelled with other variants of Doe / Roe / Poe / etc. Other early alternatives such as John Stiles and Richard Miles are now rarely used, and Mary Major has been used in some American federal cases.[4] The Doe...

...There were many people who participated in the revolution, but many historians tend not to include those them. Some examples of these minorities are women, lower and middle class, slaves, and Native Americans. Women played and important role in the revolution. Some women went to the military camps to help feed and cure the soldiers. Other women took charge of the farms shops and other businesses while there husbands were away. Although they were not allowed to fight some helped load the cannons, but there was one woman who fought. Deborah Sampson enlisted in the regiment as Robert Shurleff. Since she was a very strong women. She performed all the "manly" duties like any other male (picture of her in the left). Although they contributed in many way they did not get the right to vote or even be able to have the freedom or equality the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution preached of. Historians tend to give more recognition to the upper class which include people like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and many of our founding fathers, but they do not recognize the ones who actually fought for it. Many of the middle and lower class went to the battle field although they were not the ones that declared independence from Britain. When taken as prisoners they were sent on prison ships while the rich upper class men were put on parole and were allowed to live there every day life. They were the ones that were struck by hunger, illness and......

Just like “Waiting on the world to change” Mayer has many songs on his album that was released in 2006 “Continuum” that would rise up in the charts and make him the known artist he is today. John Mayer as a child was always very involved with music learned how to play several instruments by the inspiration of others. Mayer loved music, especially blues as can be heard from all his songs in which they all share a melancholic tune. As a young man in high school one of his first gigs was at a local blues bar with a band he had been currently been a part of. Although he only played guitar at the time Mayer was still songwriting. He learned how to write after being hospitalized at the age of 17 with a mental issue even though his illness was destroying his body his creativity kept flowing allowing him to find his newfound passion, songwriting. ...| Dewey, Chetum, and Howe | Memo To: Dewey, Chetum, and Howe | | From: | XXXXX | cc: | Dewey, Chetum, and Howe | Date: | December 4, 2015 | Re: | PharmaCare (John) | | | As requested, I am writing this memo to provide details about a case that has been brought before us at Dewey, Chetum, and Howe. John, a past pharmacist at PharmaCARE, came into the firm with apprehensions of PharmaCARE’s usage of AD23, the establishment’s number one selling diabetes drug. A few years ago PharmaCARE’s study showed the AD23 would also slow the advancement of Alzheimer’s disease. This led John and the other pharmacologists that he led to reformulate the drug to capitalize on its outcome. To evade the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) inspection, PharmaCARE founded an exclusively held company, CompCARE, to function as a compounding pharmacy. This company would retail the new invention to people by prescription only. CompCARE profited from PharmaCARE’s standing, records, systems, and trades and marketing skill, and within several months the health community was talking about AD23. Response was good, mainly amongst Medicare, Medicaid, and Veterans Affairs patients. Realizing the chance to get additional income, CompCARE started marketing AD23 straight to customers and promoting AD23 right to clinics, hospitals, and physician offices, although compounding pharmacies are not allowed to market medicines in large qualities for common use. To dodge this provision, CompCARE......
