The Career for Which I'M Best Suited

...Harvey MacKay once said, "Find something you love to do, and you'll never work a day in your life.” Choosing a career path is challenging and exciting with the immense opportunities and options available today in variety of industries. The career for which I am best suited is teaching because I enjoy being in a career that in return provides me a healthy lifestyle and opportunities to advance in the career path. Teaching helps me live a healthy life. It does not tie me down to one corner as I walk around the classroom all day along instructing the young learners which in return help me find the best ways I can stay active and fit. As I play different music instruments; sing, dance, and act in musical dramas with children; these activities allow me share my passion with others and help develop a great mental health in me. Teaching is probably the only job in the world that allows you can take a mental break from your busy schedule during the weekend. I find time to sit back, relax; and reflect upon my performance throughout the week both in my personal and professional life which in return helps me stay focused and organized to live a calm life. As teachers have less working hours in comparison to other corporate counterparts, they are able to return home earlier and spend more time with their family members which help them build close and healthy relationships within the family. On the other hand, teachers have more time off during mid-winter break, spring break and summers...

I'M Nobody Who Are You

...Jennifer Czachura 3/27/07 Critical Thinking Essay Kim Groninga “I’m Nobody! Who are you?” by Emily Dickinson Most people feel invisible at some point in their lives; whether it’s because they’re in the shadow of an older sibling, because they are shy, or simply because everyone around them has been busy, it doesn’t make much difference. It’s still a horrible thing to feel like no one even realizes you’re alive or that you’ve been doing things. Emily Dickinson felt this way often; she lived at home and didn’t leave the house much, mostly corresponding with people by letters. However, her invisibility didn’t bother her too much, and that is what this poem is all about. When you feel invisible, you aren’t alone, because someone else is feeling invisible too. Dickinson starts out the poem introducing herself, ”I’m Nobody! Who are you?” (1) Being nobody can mean a lot of things; it could mean she’s no one important, no one special, no one significant, or no one that everyone knows. However, she could also be nobody to many people simply because she doesn’t try to stand out or feel important. She is content just being herself, living her plain, simple life and doing things that make her happy. Being nobody makes her somewhat mysterious; she’s obviously a person, but most people don’t know who she really is. This also relates to the second line in the poem, “Are you – Nobody – too?” (2) Dickinson’s question of the reader seems to show tha t being nobody is something everyone feels......

...Best of the Best Best of the Best is a movie about the world of martial arts combined with a fictional story line. Released in 1989, I saw this movie for the first time when I was only 10 years old and it has always been a personal favorite. Aside from some cheesy acting and basic storyline the movie itself has merit, not so much for the violence that is innate to the sport of Tae Kwon Do, but for the ending that is wrought with emotion. This movie does not glorify violence in the sport, but rather portrays it matter of fact. The premise of the movie revolves around a tournament between the South Koreans and Americans. The tournament is to be held in Seoul, South Korea and so the task begins of assembling the American team. James Earl Jones plays the role of Coach Frank Couzo who invites top and former great karate athletes to be a part of the five man team. (Lots of references to karate, but it is actually Tae Kwon Do). The five men are brought together, from different backgrounds and of course with varying personal struggles and personality conflicts ensue. Sonny (David Agresta), is an Italian, street smart, macho man. Virgil (John Dye) is the centering persona of the team. He is a Buddhist and expresses the need for calm and meditation. Travis (Chris Penn), is a bit of a hillbilly and has quite the temper. Alex (Eric Roberts), is a widower and has a son, Walter. Alex was forced to retire years ago after suffering a career ending shoulder injury. Tommy......

...Erickson's work. This will be accomplished by excerpting small portions of various published articles about his work, most of them of a transcriptual nature. Part III of this volume is a step-by-step, explicit presentation of the patterns identified in Parts I and II. This Part is intended to give you the skills necessary to construct each pattern through an understanding of its formal characteristics. Our belief is that in this way the patterns of Erickson's behavior will be made available to you for use in your own work. We strongly recommend that you read this volume carefully and that you spend some time experimenting with each pattern. This book is designed primarily as a training manual, not as a novel. Careful use and re-use will reap the best rewards for you. FOOTNOTE 1. Don't Tell Me I'M Not

...Kiara S. Randolph about 518 words 12197 Raccoon Rd Manning, SC 29102 678-314-2717 simeonrandolph@gmail.com don’t tell me i’m not By Kiara S. Randolph Seems like all I’ve ever heard is what I couldn’t and wouldn’t be... Just because I’m 5’5 and would rather stay in and read; then play outside don’t tell me I would never make the team. Just because I’m slow to speak and in crowds I tend to blend; rather than be the life of the party don’t tell me that I don’t deserve to be heard. My mother a janitor and my father a mechanic; hardworking but doesn’t come from money don’t tell me I can’t be a doctor. The youngest of three; my sister a model, my brother a star of tomorrow don’t tell me my future is anything less. I struggle with my weight; my mom trades my burgers for grapes. I walk down the hall, they point fingers, laugh at my temporary state, just because I’m 15 and overweight don’t tell me I could never be Miss USA. When I speak I stutter, one word becomes an echo of many. People poke fun call me retarded, but feelings I’ve got plenty. Just because I have a tough time being heard don’t tell me I can’t be a public speaker. The alarm rings, my face hits the floor before my feet. Soccer? More like the ball kicks me. Make the table for dinner? Forget it! Goofy names I answer to, but makes me feel less than, just because I lose everything I seem to grab don’t tell me that I’ll never have. I'M No Jezebel

...Midterm The article presented by Tiffany G. Townsend, “I’m No Jezebel; I Am Young, Gifted, and Black: Identity, Sexuality, and Black Girls,” is focused around the stigmas that society has placed on African American women and their perceptions of themselves and self beauty. It goes into depth to analyze how certain interactions and encounters shape how African American females develop and how they identify sexually. In the research, it talks about what a Jezebel is, and it is identified as a light skinned woman with long hair, who is perceived as “seductive, manipulative, and unable to control her sexual drives” (Townsend 274). Then they go on to identify who Mammy is, who is unattractive and obese and of a darker complexion. Both of these images were that which were projected onto women of African American descent, by the media and the European culture. This created an idea of “colorism”, and it made things that were of a lighter skin, or closer to their Caucasian and Latina counterparts to seem more accepted. It goes on to speak about how stereotypes have negatively affected the development and actions of African American women of all ages, from Jezebel all the way to the modern, do it all super woman, essentially being the single woman. The connection between childhood sexual abuse and the likelihood of continued victimization and sexual exploitation is also explored. The research goes into detail to see what is affecting the ways that African American females are......

I'M Not a Vegetarian

...I'm Not a Vegetarian! But . . . Should the Animals Eaten Have Rights? Oh, no! That steak is from a living animal that breathes the same air as humans. Should this animal have to be killed and butchered to become something humans use for survival? All living beings should have certain rights, correct? The answer is a profound . . . yes, and no. Animals have been eaten for billions of years in order to sustain the human race. That will never change. For example, a hunter will go out on an early Saturday morning just when the sun is rising to look for a deer to kill so the family will have meat to eat. After a period of time, several deer are spotted fifty yards away in a clearing. With careful aim, a single shot is placed directly behind a deer’s shoulder that results in, dinner for the evening. Even though animals must be killed in order to supply the humans with meat . . . they should have certain rights prior to their demise. Animal abuse in slaughterhouses is caused by trying to process more animals than the slaughterhouses can handle in order to maximize profits, along with using outdated processing methods with under maintained equipment; however, this problem can be solved by incorporating well maintained up-to-date processing equipment and better internal quality controls. Looking back, as reported by Farm Forward, n.d.: In the last 70 years—a tiny blip in the history of farming—cruel, unsustainable factory farms have grown to the point where they......

...Discussion 2 The information that is given is as follows: • raised $15 million and retired $19 million in new long-term debt • sold $25 million in new stock and repurchased $5.4 million • purchased $50 million in fixed assets and sold $5.73 This tells me that in all three categories (operating, investing, and financing activities) the firm has a positive cash flow. The more accurate cash flow statement would have to be the income statement. This statement will tell if the company made profit or note. The expansion plan is a good move. Base on the positive trends from 2007 to 2008 from total current assets, total fixed assets, total current liabilities, total equity, I can confidently say that expanding would be in the best interest of the stockholders and the company. These numbers tell the company is operating at a profit. If the company was to be sold today and all debts are paid, the stockholders/owners of the company would make out with money in the bank. I'M Me

...fundamental question is: what is the true goal of BCB’s interventions? The present current account deficit, a measure of external savings, is at the high level of 3.7% of GDP (about US$ 80 billion). Given that Brazil investment/GDP ratio is quite low, less than 20% of GDP, such high deficit indicates that Brazil is using external savings to finance consumption above what it produces. And this raises at least a yellow flag. The best way of reducing the current account deficit is by depreciating the real exchange rate, which would involve allowing the nominal rate to depreciate above the difference between Brazilian and our foreign commercial partners’ inflation. If the BCB’s interventions are stemming the real from depreciating to a new equilibrium, they would also be hindering the economy’s external equilibrium adjustment, which is not good. The BCB worries about the currency depreciation because of its effect on inflation, which has been under pressure since 2010. To manipulate directly the exchange rate in order to keep the inflation at bay is not the best macroeconomic strategy, because it hinders the correction of the economy’s external disequilibrium. It would be better to combine the on-going interest rate increase with a true fiscal adjustment, reducing public expenditure and subsidized loans given by government-owned banks, and letting the currency depreciate. But this is unlikely to happen in an electoral year, despite the official recent statements on the contrary.......

...Regulatory policy reforms should encompass two elements: first, strengthening supervision and the enforcement of prudential rules, especially in the area of credit risk; and second, ensuring that the regulatory framework enhances, rather than diminishes, incentives on bank owners and managers for prudent management. The four countries covered in this paper implemented major reforms to prudential regulation in the late 1980s and/or early 1990s. Bank supervision departments were strengthened and new banking laws were enacted, incorporating much stricter prudential regulations on, inter alia, capital adequacy, large loan exposures and insider lending. This has brought most aspects of their banking legislation into line with international best practice. If the new banking legislation is to be effective, close monitoring of the banks by the supervisors, particularly of their asset portfolios, and the imposition of sanctions on banks which violate the regulations, are necessary. To prevent insider lending (or at least levels of insider lending which exceed prudential limits) and other forms of imprudent lending activities, such as excessive loan concentration, supervisors must carry out regular on -site inspections and have the accounting skills to detect when bank records have been falsified. Regulators should also focus attention on identifying potential problem debts in the banks, and ensure that banks properly classify loans according to predetermined criteria based on......
