Graduation Day A lengthy four years of high school really set the stage for a great graduation. Graduating from high school became the single most important event in my life so far. Being a part of Wake Forest-Rolesville’s 2011 graduating class was a special moment. This moment is very significant to me because it was a long term goal that I had set out to accomplish, and I succeeded in doing so. Of course I felt accomplished after graduating high school, but I also realized many new doors would open for me. As a high school graduate I became eligible for higher education. Being able to attend college is essential for trying to achieve my life goals. Graduating from high school meant that I was just one step closer to achieving these life goals.

A Painful Strand
The death of my grandfather played a major role in my growth as a young man. His death did more than just show me that his time was up. I recall this experience being one of my most difficult. This was my first time ever witnessing death, seeing my father cry, and attending a funeral. Watching my grandfather pass away and my father cry were both very painful experiences. I had never planned nor prepared myself for anything like that. The pain and sadness that came along, transformed me into a cold hearted person. Taking on this new change required me to grow up much faster than planned. The growth took place because, I lost interest in many of the activities and trends a teenager might find attention-grabbing. I stopped chasing girls and going to Friday night football games, and started spending my time alone, questioning my existence. The time I spent alone did not hinder who I was as person, but instead, that time helped mold me into the young man that I am…...

New Grad Satisfaction

...the satisfaction of new graduates. (Halfer & Graf, 2006) New graduate nurses are leaving their current positions at an alarmingly higher rate than experienced nurses (Patterson, 2009) I do believe things can be done to change these issues. I feel it is important, though it is not always practical to involve the new staff in the scheduling process and, as the article states, include as a “Team scheduling” process, rather than a “self scheduling”. This may make more people feel involved, and although it may not solve all of the issues, such as weekends or holidays, it may be a small change that will improve job satisfaction. I wish they had something like this on the unit I work on. We are able to switch with others on the unit for days that we need off, which is helpful, but it would be nice just to do it as one big team in the beginning. This also would allow you time to spend with your coworkers. Nurses say they enjoy interactions with peers the most, pay the least. (ANA, 2005) I am not sure that I dislike the pay, although I do wish it were more 50 percent of the time, but I do enjoy the interactions with the staff and feel we need more of this. References ANA. Day to Day Effects

...Extra Credit 1 Every day, every minute, in fact every second, we are interacting and building connections with everything we see and do. For this assignment, I want to focus on my encounter with Starbucks staff. I probably am one of the biggest Starbucks fanatic anyone will every encounter. I love the thrill of going to Starbucks, and anticipating and thinking about what my new Starbucks concoction will be. Reflecting upon my Starbucks experiences, I have come to a conclusion of whether we know it or not, our unintended communications turn into a relationships that we fail to see. To test my thinking and prove it valid, I went to the Starbucks that I have been going to for years now. Here goes my thoughts, “What do I order? What am I feeling today? What is the new drink that came out?”. As I walked in, I examined the same feeling of thrill and excitement that rushes upon me. As I wait in the long, almost endless lines at Starbucks, I especially examine other people’s orders and get inspired for my order. As the line lessens, I am finally able to reach upon my decision of my order. Instantly, the woman taking my order my order found me quit familiar and said, “hello, how’s your day today? Would you like chai latte or caramel macchiato?” and I found it surprising on how she knew exactly what I want. Reflecting upon the situation, I realize how going to Starbucks often, I run into the same people, the same staff and essentially built a relationship that we don’t realize.......

A Day of Nothing and a Day of Activity

...A Day of Nothing and a Day of Activity From what I can recall, I did nothing of particular interest on February 8, so I shall elect to skip talking about it. To make up for the lack, I shall write an excruciatingly long entry for today. As is typical of an exchange student at Kansai Gaidai, I awoke only to begin my journey over to my Japanese class. In class, we played 'Who's Pen Is This?' in order to practice our previously learned grammar lesson. Next, we planned a pretend trip in order to practice another grammar lesson. Finally, we learned a new grammar point before departing. My next activity was to wait 40 minutes so that I could meat Saki and Chiaki again for lunch. This time, I brought my laptop along so that I could share photographs from back home. While waiting, I was joined by Wayne, a Chinese student who I had previously met, and Keisuke. At first, Keisuke swore that Wayne was a Japanese person, but after some effort to convince him otherwise, he believed that he was not. Come 11:30, I took my leave from the boys to join the girls in the cafeteria. Since it was rainy and drab awful outside today, Saki and Chiaki were waiting inside the cafeteria instead of the outside area where they usually wait. After getting food, we ate and talked some. Once finishing, we made our way to the CIE lounge so I could plug in my laptop and begin the show. A wise move plugging it in, I might add, as the presentation lasted about four hours. I began by showing pictures of my......

...LDS Institute to give you personal perspectives about the school in general. * Contact several students in the graduate program that you are interested in. Ask them what they like and do not like about the program as well as other information you would like to know. * You may want to visit the campus and see how you like the program, school, town, and faculty. This can help you make a connection to the faculty, to move from being a name on a paper to a person with a personality. If this is not an option, you should visit the school once you have been admitted and before you commit to attend. Paying for Grad School Graduate school is very expensive; however, there are ways that you can pay for your degree. If you attend a professional school, this will be more difficult than if you attend a scholarly school. Most scholarly schools will employ grad students as graduate assistants, teaching assistants, research assistants, or other jobs within the program. These jobs in most cases will pay for half if not all of tuition, health insurance, and a monthly living stipend. However, you must apply for these positions. The application for these positions is different than the admissions application, so take the time to fill it out. If you do not see any applications, call the graduate school and ask. Professional schools may provide more support for outstanding students than others. Be aware however, that if you attend a professional or scholarly school you will...

Day-to-Day Stress

...Day-to-Day Stress Omar R. Hameen GEN/200 May 17, 2011 Barbara Alston Day-to-Day Stress In the following paper I would like to talk about a problem that causes stress my daily life. I will describe how to gather information to help me solve this problem and where the information can be obtained. In this paper I will talk about my experiences and how I deal various forms of stressors at home and in social settings. Daily stress Stress is a term used by many, is severly misunderstood, and often used to describe a negative condition or emotional state. It is our biological way of dealing with sudden changes in our life. The biggest stressor for me is fatigue.   Most days, my morning starts around 10 a.m.   By 11 a.m., I’m hurrying to the store to grab an energy drink then back home to work on school assignments and apply for jobs online.   At 12 a.m. I start my “work day”, which typically requires cleaning, preparing my daughter for school, and taking care of any outside work that needs to be done.   I usually find myself leaving home at 5 p.m. and heading to pick up my daughter from daycare.   Whether we go to the park, play some type of sports in the yard, or go on a bike ride; I spend the next 3 hours running around behind my 4 year old daughter, using my last bit of stored energy. When our playtime is done we head inside to do her school work and other learning activities.   Spending family time is important, so usually its dinner and a movie until...

...Upon return to the US, I had a long debriefing with my management on the trip to Bangalore in which I asked to pursue the management career path. Fortunately, my manager felt it was worth pursuing and I was enrolled in education to prepare and to help me decide if management was an appropriate path. Over the next several years, I continued in my technical role while working towards the management goal. In 2011 I applied to and was offered a management position within my design team. That Day

...Life Changing Experiences By: Olivia Son Growing up in the country you could always find me outside playing with my friends or relatives. We would literally go outside the moment we woke up and would not come back inside until bedtime. Between riding four-wheelers, jumping on trampolines, and having mud fights you never knew what we might me getting into that day. I had my share of bumps and bruises along the way but I would not have changed a single minute of it. We all grow up thinking that we are invincible until something happens in your life that changes all that. I remember that day as if it were yesterday. It was a hot summer day just like any other and I was your typical fourteen-year-old girl who wanted to spend all her free time hanging out with her boyfriend. This day was no different. I woke up that morning and of course could not wait to spend time with him. Therefore, I rushed through breakfast and did everything that my mom had asked me to do before he was allowed to come over. Finally, he was at my house and we were deciding what we might get into. It was so hot outside so we decided that we would go swimming and ride my four-wheeler. We figured we would going four-wheeler riding first that way if we got dirty we could just jump into the pool when we got back and wash off. So we changed into our swim suits and headed out. Looking back wearing only a swim suit and flip flops to go riding might not of been the best idea but it was something......
