Fruits of Your Labor

Fruits of Your Labor “Do or do not, there is no try” (Lucas, 1980) Does it really take a Jedi Master to make this statement in order for you to believe in yourself? How exactly do you self-evaluate, or set the bar or standard to know you are truly giving it your best? What happens when you are not being successful because someone or something else is preventing you to? Even though circumstances out of your control can set roadblocks in your progress, you should accept the consequences to your actions because you cannot hold others responsible for the results for your efforts, only you limit yourself, and you only get out what you put in.

First, you should accept the consequences to your actions because you cannot hold others responsible for the results for your efforts. Personal responsibility to me means that you are willing to accept the outcome of your actions and decisions you make. It is because of that reason that we need to also realize that we are motivated by our freedom of choice, and daily decisions we make. It is all about what you want and how determined you are to get it. We need to be conscious of decisions we make and understand that the results of our choices are accountable actions personal to us.

Additionally, only YOU- limit yourself. This simply means that you set your own limitations to achieving what you want. Do not allow others to persuade you to do anything less than what you want. Personal responsibility relates to college success in a very direct and apparent way. You get out what you put in. Personal responsibility is also being able to juggle your schedule around important factors in your life. These factors may include work, family, hobbies, groups or organizations that you have strong commitments to. You have to make time for them as well, and if you do not take them into…...

Strange Fruit

...Written project: “strange fruit” At the time I was choosing which music to be the topic of my paper, I pulled the scroll bar to lowest and I saw this music: “strange fruit”. The first time I reading the title of song I was thought about may be this song is singing about a labor working in the plantation or the singer put his life or love story metaphor as “a strange fruit”. But when I start listen the music, I realized I was wrong. The first time I listen to the music, one thing I am sure about is that I can feel the singer’s emotion is so bitter and sad. That emotion I even don’t need to understand what the lyrics meaning, the music’s melody and singer’s tone start to make me feeling heavy and depressed. The type of this song is early Jazz - Blues. Musical melody starts with trumpet and then piano follows. The rhyme of trumpet and piano are both negative and singer’s sound is sadness, and sometimes the voice is lowering. The music includes many depressed melodies and blues that make the music listener feeling the singer is singing about a tragedy. At this time I learned that why the music is a universal language for communication without boundary. The second time I listen to the music, I can understand what the lyrics saying. This song is singing about the lynching movement at the southern America. By reading and studying, I start to know this song is a typical representation of Anti-lynching movement. The original title of this song was "Bitter Fruit," and the song......

Is Your Chocolate the Result of Unfair Exploitation of Child Labor?

...1. Should labor practices in another country be a relevant consideration in international trade? Why or why not? International trade means that trading internationally is concerning with every country in the world. Basically, all the countries are depending and caring on each other. The advantages and disadvantages are dealing with all the countries. Even though all the countries in the world are having different culture, tradition, norms and etc, labor practices should be concerning with human rights which are necessary for all the human beings around the world. Besides, it is not involving in the business of another country and it is just forcing to do the right practices that can be accepted by others. Every business should have business ethics and for developed countries, they should not stand and watch for the un fair labor practices that are happening in third world countries to manufacture the products they are consuming. To make better world of business, everyone business should have right ethics, good labor practices and supportive conditions for the production environment. Thus, the consumers will also feel pleased to use the products that come out from clean and fresh environment with great labor practices. 2. Vegetables and Fruits

...VEGETABLES AND FRUITS INTRODUCTION: High intakes of fruits and vegetables are protective against many forms of cancers. Vegetarians are less likely to contract cancer of the colon than meat eaters. A vegetarian diet is typically high in fibre, low in saturated fat and includes plenty of fruit and vegetables. Dietary fibre may help to protect against all the ‘Western’ cancers such as cancers of the colon, rectum, prostate, uterus and breast. We all know that fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes and nuts are healthy. There are a number of studies that show that consuming more of these plant-based foods reduces the risk for a long list of chronic maladies (including coronary artery disease, obesity, diabetes, and many cancers). This is probable factor in increased longevity in the industrialized world. On average, we eat two fruits and vegetables and too much saturated fats of which meat and dairy are prime contributors. A predominantly vegetarian diet may have beneficial effects for kidney and nerve function in diabetics, as well as for weight loss. Eating more fruits and vegetables can slow, and perhaps reverse, age-related declines in brain function and in cognitive and motor performance at least in rats. However, low protein diets associated with vegetarians, reduce calcium absorption and have a negative impact on skeletal health. Vegetarians’ avoidance of meat, eggs and dairy products can lead to deficiencies in iron, calcium and Vitamin B12. Infants who are......

Is Your Chocolate the Result of Unfair Exploitation of Child Labor?

...1. Should labor practices in another country be a relevant consideration in international trade? Why or why not? Yes, the labor practices of another country is a relevant consideration as far as international trade is concerned most especially in terms of imports and exports which are patronized by consumers all over the world. Nowadays, information is made available to the public and is accessed by people at their most convenient time through the World Wide Web or internet. A curious consumer can learn as to where the products he or she wish to purchase were manufactured as well as to where the raw materials are gathered. The level of satisfaction decreases and an increase in dissatisfaction can be a result of a knowledgeable consumer who is aware of the company’s labor practices. Moreover, international trade is not only after the products a country produces but also concerned as to the social responsibility of the company or country as to which the products are produced. Although most countries are only after the end products, I think the people concerned in the trade should be knowledgeable enough and knows the products that are good for exports and imports. The child labor and/or slave labor do not reflects human right violation and child’s rights. Though companies are making efforts to resolve these issues other however are making efforts to hid it from the public and continues to practice it. Another thing to consider is the company’s image that it portrays to......

...A service provider has given you the Class C network range 209.50.1.0. Your company must break the network into 20 separate subnets. Step 1) Determine the number of subnets and convert to binary - In this example, the binary representation of 20 = 00010100. Step 2) Reserve required bits in subnet mask and find incremental value - The binary value of 20 subnets tells us that we need at least 5 network bits to satisfy this requirement (since you cannot get the number 20 with any less than 5 bits – 10100) Our original subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 (Class C subnet) The full binary representation of the subnet mask is as follows: 255.255.255.0 = 11111111.11111111.11111111.00000000 - We must “convert” 5 of the client bits (0) to network bits (1) in order to satisfy the requirements: New Mask = 11111111.11111111.11111111.11111000 - If we convert the mask back to decimal, we now have the subnet mask that will be used on all the new networks – 255.255.255.248 Our increment bit is the last possible network bit, converted back to a binary number: New Mask = 11111111.11111111.11111111.1111(1)000 – bit with the parenthesis is your increment bit. If you convert this bit to a decimal number, it becomes the number „8‟ Step 3) Use increment to find network ranges - Start with your given network address and add your increment to the subnetted octet: 209.50.1.0 209.50.1.8 209.50.1.16 …etc - You can now fill in your end ranges, which is the last possible IP address before you start the...

Canned Fruits

...information Fresh fruits are a good source of vitamins ,minerals and dietary fiber. Whilst most fruits should be eaten fresh, processed can be acceptable alternatives. They come in many forms, including: • Pre-prepared fresh • Canned • Frozen • Dried •Juiced Pre-prepared fresh fruit Common varieties include fruit salads . These are convenient, but may have a shorter storage life. They may also be more expensive than whole fresh fruits It is also important to check the information on the nutrition panel for these foods as some pre-prepared salads may include added ingredients, such as flavourings, additiives. Many of these ingredients can be high in sugar and should be avoided. Frozen or canned fruit THERE IS A WIDE RANGE OF FROZEN AND CANNED FRUITS FOR EXAMPLE • Canned pineapple, peaches, apricots, pears and mixed fruits. • Frozen mangoes, berries and pineapple. THE BENEFITS OF CHOOSING FROZEN AND CANNED FRUIT INCLUDE: • Convenience • Longer shelf life •Year round availability • Most vitamins are retained as they are generally processed and packaged within hours of being picked • Easy storage •Easy preparation Whilst the canning and freezing process can help protect food from organisms that can cause food to go off, it is important to store and prepare processed fruit and vegetables properly. • Frozen fruit and vegetables should be kept at -18 degrees Celsius for no more than six months. When shopping, try to put frozen products in your trolley last,......

Fruits and Vegetables

...Fruits and Vegetables Throughout my adolescence I have been told that fruits and vegetables are essential to a quality health. “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” or “It is important to eat your veggies to grow big and strong.” Although these foods contribute to a good health, they also differ in many ways. There are distinct requirements that allow a fruit to be a fruit, and a vegetable to be a vegetable, and the tastes and usage of these foods often bear no resemblance with each other. Before I proceed, I feel it is necessary to clarify any common misconception about fruits and vegetables that were brought up throughout my research. The tomato, thought to be a vegetable by many, as well as myself, is actually not, it is a fruit. The pumpkin and avocado also fall into the category of a fruit ("Did you know fruit facts".) These false impressions result in the mistaken identity in countless fruits and vegetables. A fruit is the ripened ovary of a flowering plant, often sweet and fleshy ("Fruits vs Vegetables"). On most accounts, fruits are foods that are consumed for dessert or as a snack. For example: apple pie, a banana split, or a strawberry shortcake, all of which are desserts with ingredients that require the use of fruit (MarthaStewart.com). The majority of fruits taste rather sweet due to a simple sugar called fructose. However, fructose is not the only element found in fruits. For a fruit to truly be a fruit, it must contain seeds. Some examples of......

...meats, fish, poultry, fruits and vegetables. Employees will be trained on stocking, storing, rotating, and how to keep the shelves appealing to the eye. Personally, I like the idea of fresh fruit and vegetables on the shelves. I think everyone does. Where I shop, I have seen shriveled zucchini. I have seen berries with mold on them. I have seen oranges that have completely lost its shape and color because of negligence from the produce manager and their employees. This is disappointing to anyone who enjoys fresh fruits and vegetables. Produce managers are expected to keep the shelves fully stocked to please their bosses, which ultimately forces them to keep bad food on the shelves because they do not have the stock to replenish the shelves. Any consumer who has food stamps would easily result to buying unhealthier foods if all the store has is old fruits and vegetables.  While this idea does seem attractive, the goal might be unattainable. The USDA might not be successful because the idea seems to conform to a demand that isn't there. Food stamps households do not demand fresh fruits and vegetables as much as unhealthier foods. If farmers are supplying more fruits and vegetables and keeping the shelves full with fresh-pick leafy greens and crisp apples to comply with government interference in consumer choices, the prices for those goods will surely go up. Not only will the prices for these goods go up, there will be a lot of waste. To keep fresh fruits and vegetables on......

Strange Fruit

...STRANGE FRUIT AND ITS IMPACT ON THE CIVIL RIGHTS ERA DeVry University Submitted to Professor Scott Gessford December 17, 2014 HUMN 303: Introduction to the Humanities INTRODUCTION Southern trees bear a strange fruit, Blood on the leaves and blood at the root, Black body swinging in the Southern breeze, Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees. Pastoral scene of the gallant South, The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth, Scent of magnolia sweet and fresh, And the sudden smell of burning flesh! Here is a fruit for the crows to pluck, For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck, For the sun to rot, for a tree to drop, Here is a strange and bitter crop. By Lewis Allan, 1940 These words paint a picture and speak of an unpleasant time in American history, where blatant racism, lynchings and inequalities were committed against African Americans. Strange fruit can be considered a protest song of the pre-civil rights era. Its importance to the movement can be felt in the lyrics of the song paving the way for protest songs of the civil rights era and its impact on the world today. Strange Fruit was composed by Abel Meerpol, a school teacher from the Bronx, NY who wrote a poem under the pseudonym Lewis Allan (Independent Lens, 2003) about the horrors of racism after seeing graphic photos of a lynching of two teenagers, Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith. These teenagers, who were accused of killing a white man, were taken from an Indiana jail and lynched...
