...Machine Dreams Page 116 1. Dream Mitch- His first dream was him at the war and he dreamed of what I think was little kids dying and him killing them because he talks about seeing “The hands small and delicate like the hands of big children, and the averted faces smooth and beardless.” So this means that he was dreaming about the kids. Then the twist I think he is saying that he is taking the bull dozer and sweeping the bodies somewhere and pretending he is home and that he is just pushing the “earth” so he doesn’t have to face what he is actually doing. Mitch- This second dream I think was a nightmare and a dream combine into one dream. He dreams about I think about dying in the war. When he mentions the girl that he can’t figure out who she is floating on a bed of flowers floating across the sea. Then in church he thinks that he is floating restfully. Or it could be that he dreamt that Kate has died while he was away at war and while he was moving around he left everyone else in the family lost and without him. Jean’s- Her dream was defiantly a nightmare it was about a horrible tragedy. She dreamt that she was a child again and with her mom in a big crowd of people. She then over heard people talking and they were saying that a man had killed his children and wife. Then some man tells her this is history being made here that something this bad could even happen. 2. Dream Car

...My dream car would be a 1969 Chevy Camaro with a 350 engine and a four speed transmission. The name "Camaro" came from a French word for friend. The decision on the name came down to the last minute, with most of the world sure the car would be named, "The Panther." But the name Camaro fit in with other Chevy names- Corvette, Chevelle, Chevy 2, and Corvair. The main reason the Camaro was introduced was because of the huge success of the Ford Mustang. The Camaro was roughly the same size as the Mustang, a little wider and based more on high performance. The Camaro is one of the last remaining muscle cars still in production today. It is only fitting that buyers still expect maximum performance from their Camaros. It is that expectation that has kept the Camaro alive for all these years, while many other cars have faded away, lost in memory. The Mustang GT only offered the 289- cubic inch or a 390- cubic inch V8 in 1967. The Camaro rolled out with 302, 327, 350, and 396 cubic inch V8's The Camaro's style was much smoother as well. The introduction of the Camaro threw pony car (Mustang) development into frenzy. Before the Camaro, the Mustang and Barracuda were not quite considered full muscle cars. Most serious performance enthusiasts still opted for intermediate sized GTO's or the Chevelle Super Sports (SS). The Camaro changed the image of those sport coupes. The Z28 and the stout SS-396 were more than just a stylish ride. Under the hood Camaros were well......

My Dream Car

...My Dream Car My dream car is made by Ferrari. Ferrari has always been a symbol of speed and prestige as well as elegance. It has even been described as a ‘passion on wheels’. Owning a Ferrari means that you have arrived in style. Only the very rich can even dream of owning a Ferrari. The Ferrari motorcar company is the brainchild of Enzo Ferrari, an Italian who started his career as a small carmaker. The 125 Sport was the first ever Ferrari motorcar. Enzo Ferrari did not intend to build road cars, when he formed the Scuderia Ferrari in 1929. After World War I, Ferrari became a driver on the Alfa-Romeo team. Following a victory at Ravenna, the family of Francesco Baracca, presented him with a small charred plaque. Baracca had died in combat and the plaque was one of the parts of the Ferrari emblem. The Ferrari emblem with a yellow shield with a black horse in the middle is recognized across the world of automobile fanatics. This prancing horse became the symbol of Ferrari and it appeared on all the cars he drove. Ferrari automobiles have been featured in many films and television shows. The Ferrari 250 was in the 1986 movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off driven by Matthew Broderick, the Ferrari 512 driven by Steven McQueen was in the 1971 film Le Mans, the Ferrari Mondial was in 1985 movie Weird Science driven by John Hughes, the Ferrari Daytona appeared in the Miami Vice television shows, driven by Don Johnson, and a replica of the Ferrari F430 was used in the Pixar movie......

Dream

...Andrew Davis English 101.008 Pease Final Essay #8 12/12/10 Dreams “Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” This is a great quote from Epicurus and it touches on the idea that you can achieve the goals you have set for yourself now just as you did with the things you have accomplished that were once dreams themselves. I agree with this idea and this quote. It is applicable with things as small as a to-do list all the way to aspirations as high as the job, woman, and life of your dreams. I myself have three different kinds of dreams. There are the dreams I have while I’m lying in my bed sleeping where I wake up, adjust back to reality, and forget about the dream all together. There are the dreams I have of things I intend to do in my future, such as graduating, getting married, and eventually having kids of my own. Then there is the third kind, the “If you could have anything” dreams. To answer this question, you have to focus on it because it’s not usually something someone can easily just come up with off the top of their head. The story of my dream where I could have absolutely anything I want would go a little something like this. On a warm fall night, I’m sitting in my parked car with windows down, letting the breeze flow through the car. My beautiful wife of thirteen years is holding my hand as we ramble back and forth about both of our days. What’s special about......

Dream Car

...My Dream Car My dream car that I built was the SL63 AMG Roadster with an exterior color mars red and black interior with silver trim. The tire hubcaps were all black. If I am going to dream, I might as well dream big! I added many different options to the base package including customized colors to the exterior/interior, drivers assistant package, AMG performance package, Mbrace package (includes many different features such as remote locks, roadside assistance, mobile apps, ect), as well as a vehicle cover and cargo tray area. The base package for this vehicle costs $147,300. After adding all the accessories and features the total came to $177,178. The difference between the standard and customized price would be $29,878. This also included the delivery fee of $925. I think there would be way too many combinations to count. The tool on the Mercedes Benz website is tailored to the individual to create their own unique vehicle that meets their own individual needs. Even when making the choice simpler, there are over 50 different variety of vehicles you could create. According to a web article wrote by Mahmud, A. (2011) “Mercedes Benz marketing strategy was focused on comfort, stability, security, and ambiance in their models due to stiff competition in the car global market.” Their order winner is luxury and/ or performance. ...Theories of Counseling 11/24/14 Personal Experience Paper #3 When writing down my dreams I found this to be quite interesting. As a child I use to attend counseling to help me stop dreaming because of the nightmares I use to have. Anyhow after my counseling I never seemed to dream anymore and when I did I could never seem to remember them. Unlike my dreams before my counseling as a child (which I can remember quit vividly and still remember them to this day) dreams now seem to become mixed with memories of real life events—now I just assume any memory that I can’t mentally verify as a past dream and that I must be experiencing déjà vu. Never the less, I wrote down two dreams. The first one was a lucid dream—I know this because I had the dream after I laid back down from waking up to use the bathroom. I did try to interact with the dream but normally once I become fully aware that I’m dreaming I wake up shortly after. Another issue I had was that when I go back and read what my dream was about it is very scattered; and I have a problem understanding my writing as well as remembering the dream at after re-reading days later what I had wrote. When I try to interpret my first dream all I get from it is that about 50% of it deals with what I do on a day to day bases. I work in a call center and most of my dream dealt with me in work talking on the phone to customers. The other 50% of that dream dealt with my family. I’m not really close to my relatives and I dreamed that I......

Dreams

...dreaming. What are dreams? This question has fascinated the human race throughout history. From the Ancient Greeks and Romans, to Sigmund Freud in the late 1800’s, till now, people have queried what the mystical stories that play out in the sleeping mind are and why we have them. The Sumerians in Mesopotamia left evidence of dreams dating back to 3100 BC. According to these stories, gods and kings, like the 7th century BC scholar-king Assurbanipal, paid close attention to dreams. In his archive of clay tablets, some accounts of the story of the legendary king Gilgamesh were found (Seligman). The Mesopotamians believed that the soul, or some part of it, moves out from the body of the sleeping person and actually visits the places and people the dreamer sees in their sleep. Sometimes the god of dreams is said to carry the dreamer. Babylonians and Assyrians divided dreams into "good," which were sent by the gods, and "bad," sent by demons. They also believed that their dreams were omens and prophecies. In ancient Egypt, as far back as 2000 BC, the Egyptians wrote down their dreams on papyrus. People with vivid and significant dreams were thought blessed and were considered special. Ancient Egyptians believed that dreams were like oracles, bringing messages from the gods. They thought that the best way to receive divine revelation was through dreaming and so they would induce dreams. Egyptians would go to sanctuaries and sleep on special "dream beds" in hope of......

Cars

...With the progress of science and technology, the cars have already become an important part in our daily life. It is known as a vehicle with four wheels and it contains an engine and that is used to move from one place to another smoothly and quickly. The cars are one of many very useful transportation methods; it gives the freedom to travel to anywhere and on anytime. In this essay I will compare and contrast this transportation method between the past generation and the present generation. This essay will focus on three key areas – engine, safety and technology. The first area that this essay will consider is about cars engine, the most importance thing in the car is the engine which it is the thing that makes the car move. In the past, the people were just wanted a car to reach them from point A to point B, so the car engine was so simple. For instance, the mechanical engineer Karl Benz created the first car engine which it called (Benz’s engine), the automobile was motorized by a 0.75-hp one-cylinder four-stroke gasoline engine. Furthermore, the speed of car was just 16 km/h (10 mph) (1). Besides, it was not need a lot of energy and it caused lots of pollution. With the technological advances; in current generation the car’s engine is working the basic principle like in the past by air and fuel combustion to create a rotational force and move the car, but the modern cars engine has become more developed. Where it is characterized by more reliable, more efficient and......

I am one of those people. I do not dream about over the line expensive cars, I dream about a car that fits both my current and future needs as well as what’s best for the planet. My dream car is a Smart fortwo Brabus. This is my dream car because for eight reasons. Those reasons include style, high gas mileage, maneuvers well, the comfortable feeling, easy to clean, I don't have to take someone who I don't want in my car, the storage compartment in the back and technology. I have a car which is named Chevrolet Geo-Metro which was introduced in 1992. It is not a car many teens who be happy to say they own. I have seen many different cars but this car is something different. This car has an engine of 3-Cyl, 1.0 Liter with the 55-79 horsepower and 58-75 lb. of torque. This Geo-Metro has some smooth features in it such as the hard roof, seatbelts that are connected to the windows and its unique shape which gives an edgy look. In addition, the Chevrolet Geo-Metro has manual gears in it. It can catch the speed of 55 mph in a matter of seconds. The fastest car ever right? I know that maybe slow to others. But nowadays there are faster and bigger cars than the Geo-Metro. I have a dream of having a Smart fortwo......

...My dream job is to be a firefighter. I think fire fighting would be a fun and exciting job. When I watch firefighters battling fires on the news, it makes me want to be out there fighting the fire with them. I also like the idea that I would be helping many people. For example, during 9/11 many firefighters risked and lost their lives going into the badly damaged World Trade Center towers to save the lives of people they did not even know. Every little boy dreams of becoming a police officer or firefighter so that they can ride around in a car or truck with sirens blaring. Now that I have grown older I still want to be a firefighter. That is why I decided to join a six-week high school fire academy at West L.A. College last summer. During those six weeks I learned how to use a firefighter’s hose and how the different nozzles function. I learned the fire-fighting lingo, like “run” means an incident, or “size up” is a verbal picture of the incident that says, “I’m at… I need… I have.” One of the most important things I learned at the Fire Academy was teamwork and how not doing your job could result in the serious injury or even death of one of the members of your Engine Company. Although it was an extreme amount of work and it was a huge sacrifice to give up my summer, this experience only strengthened my desire to become a firefighter. In my eyes a firefighter is not just somebody doing his or her job, he’s a super hero. When someone is trapped in a burning building, a......

...Breaking Into Cars—Stephen I had never broken into a car before. We were in Laredo, having just finished our first day at a Habitat for Humanity work site. The Hotchkiss volunteers had already left, off to enjoy some Texas BBQ, leaving me behind with the college kids to clean up. Not until we were stranded did we realize we were locked out of the van. Someone picked a coat hanger out of the dumpster, handed it to me, and took a few steps back. “Can you do that thing with a coat hanger to unlock it?” “Why me?” I thought. More out of amusement than optimism, I gave it a try. I slid the hanger into the window’s seal like I’d seen on crime shows, and spent a few minutes jiggling the apparatus around the inside of the frame. Suddenly, two things simultaneously clicked. One was the lock on the door. (I actually succeeded in springing it.) The other was the realization that I’d been in this type of situation before. In fact, I’d been born into this type of situation. My upbringing has numbed me to unpredictability and chaos. With a family of seven, my home was loud, messy, and spottily supervised. My siblings arguing, the dog barking, the phone ringing—all meant my house was functioning normally. My Dad, a retired Navy pilot, was away half the time. When he was home, he had a parenting style something like a drill sergeant. At the age of nine, I learned how to clear burning oil from the surface of water. My Dad considered this a critical life skill—you know, in case my......

Kath’s time set is calmer but still has problems with her parent thanks to the car accident her brother was in. Kathy, she has short black hair with a belly button ring, which surprises her, but not in a good way. The only thing that every time set has in common is this guy named Luke, who’s following her during this realities, that feel like dreams to both of them. Her movement within dimensions started with a tragic event of her brother’s death during a car crash. She kept shifting through every set, she was confused because every time she woke up, Kathleen wasn’t sure who she was, or which version of herself she woke up into. Dreams are real,we have times of deja vu’s when we walk or talk to someone during our daily life, we know that we have seen certain things somewhere but we don’t recall where, maybe we saw that in another dimension but don’t fully understand because we believe it’s all a dream. In a personal experience, there was this time in which i was walking in the beach, i picked up a shell but it seemed so familiar as if i had previously picked it up. It’s weird having those kinds of experiences because it confused our brain and deceives us to believe it was a dream. Dreams can be real experiences, let’s use the space vs earth analogy. On earth we can all agree that if you try to jump from a bridge or a mountain, with the intentions of flying like a......
