...Essentials of College Writing Case Analysis COMM 215 Essentials of College Writing Case Analysis In this case study analysis of Carl Robins a number of problems related with the recruiting process transpired. To obtain a clear understanding of what went wrong and the best way to solve these problems, a case study analysis is the way to go in an attempt to identify and recommend ways to improve this process for recruiting new trainees for ABC, Inc. Furthermore, ABC Inc., made the incorrect assessment by appointing Carl Robins to the job of enlisting new hires. Mr. Robins’ had this position for only six months and was put on his own. He should have known that he needed to put more preparation and on-the-job training into this job. As a recruiter is accountable for the course of action of hiring, induction, medical screenings, and record filing to complete the hiring in many companies. With two to three weeks until orientation is to start, Carl has too much going on. This mishap causing a lack of organization, planning, scheduling, and there is a good chance the training will not be able to happen until at least the beginning of July, because the computer room was double booked. To see how this started lets go back to early April, Carl Robins was hired for ABC, Inc., to recruit new hires for the company. He had enormous strides in his efforts, in spite of employment at his new job for only six months. Robins hired 15 new trainees for Ms. Carrolls in the operations......

...Case Study Analysis for ABC, Inc. COMM/215 UOP January 9, 2012 Korijna Valenti Introduction During my reach into the hiring issues at ABC Inc., it was found necessary to research and read more in today’s hiring process with the current job market. The following is an introduction of one specific company that recently requested a case study of a current internal hiring process that took place or did not take place. In this situation, a new campus recruiter was expecting to bring on 15 new hires to complete for orientation to work in the Operations department. When the operations supervisor contacted the new recruiter and checked on the status of the recruiting process, they were assured that all requirements would be in place. The recruiter went to finalize the necessary paper work that would typically be in place for new hire orientation, only to discover that there was not a defined process or checklist. Background Because Carl (the recruiter) was new to ABC Inc., he was under the impression there should be a plan of action defined for how to complete a new hire. With this, Carl should have first noticed a lack of organization in which there should be a process flow to take him from requisition, to recruitment and the matching up a candidate with the job opening. When he pulled out the new trainee’s files, it was discovered that some of the files did not have completed applications or transcripts and none of the trainees had been sent for a......

The company’s Operations Supervisor, Monica Carrolls will be gaining these trainings in her department and is expecting them to be in orientation by June 15 and begin working by July 1st. While it is possible for Robins to complete everything by June 15, it is not guaranteed, and there are many obstacles to overcome in a short amount of time. Robbins hired 15 new trainees for Carroll, and was confident that he would have the trainees ready for orientation by June 15 and ready to work by July 1st. The new trainees paperwork was not reviewed until the last week of May, by then it was determine nothing was prepared for June 15’s orientation. Applications were incomplete, none of the trainees had complete their drug test, their transcripts were not on file, orientation packets were incomplete, and finally, the training room was already booked for the entire month of June. At this point in the analysis, it would seem Robins will be unable to conduct orientation on June 15, due to the fact he is unprepared and running out of time. The key issues ABC Inc. and Robins face are the following: the incomplete orientation manuals and the 15 new trainees that have not been drug tested. Currently, Robins has only three orientation packets, and they are missing several pages,......

...Case Study for Student Analysis Student COMM/215 July 21, 2010 Instructor Case Study for Student Analysis In the case study, Carl is a new recruiter for ABC Inc. Upon being assigned to his position, he beat expectations by successfully hiring several new people despite his lack of time on the job. Because of this, he probably feels a lot of pressure to succeed and continue to perform better than his previous efforts at all times. He has made a number of mistakes in the case study and is at a loss as to what he should do next. Specifically, we’ll look at the mistakes Carl made, what he should have done in the first place, and the options he has available to him now to correct the mistakes he’s made. First of all, Carl started off wrong by assuring Monica that everything would be taken care of in time and leaving it at that. There is quite a bit involved with making sure each hire has their applications and resumes filled out and submitted correctly. Additionally, drug screening is something that has to be done at an approved facility for your company or corporation since there are potential legal issues if the urinalysis tests are done at your place of business. Even hospitals send their employee’s urinalysis bottles to other medical facilities to have them checked rather than doing the drug screening at their own facility though there are companies that are offering on-site drug testing (OHS Health and Safety Services, Inc., 2010). Physicals are also a......

...COMM/215 CASE STUDY FOR STUDENT ANALYSIS There were two issues with Carl Robins, the new campus recruiter that ABC hired to help with hiring new trainees. One is lack of training, and the other is a lack of communication within the company. These are a couple of critical steps to having an excellent on-boarding process with a new employee. It is critical to not only the success of the new employee but for the company as well. The way a company trains and communicates the needs of the company to its new employee indicates the value they put in the individual that the company hired. If a company does not have an established training program and clear and open lines of communication with the trainees it puts less value in the trainee, and furthermore less value in the company. Background Carl Robins was hired for ABC, Inc to recruit new hires for the company. Successful in his efforts, Robins hired 15 new trainees for Monica in the operations department. However Robins was unsuccessful in getting the new employees the orientation schedule according to plan, due to lack of communication and lack of training for Carl’s position. Key Problems Several things happened that led to Carl’s performance leading up to his failure in not getting the new hires to the necessary training to start for the company.
