...rather than simply reacting to events. 9. Continuous decrease in waste. The health system should not waste resources or patient time. 10. Cooperation among clinicians. Clinicians and institutions should actively collaborate and communicate to ensure an appropriate exchange of information and coordination of care. These ten rules translate readily into a set of new patient expectations for health care. The committee believes these new expectations are consistent with and reinforce the steps that must be taken to achieve a significant improvement in quality. We also believe they are consistent with the kind of care most clinicians strive to provide each day, but without the support of well-designed care systems and absent an environment that nurtures innovation and excellence. To create a new health care system that more closely matches the purpose and aims, it will be necessary, first, to examine old assumptions to understand why they have led to our current ineffective health care systems, and second, to consciously craft new operating assumptions embodied in the rules set forth above. As a guide in formulating its agenda for change, the committee used as a framework recent work in understanding complex adaptive and its application to what have become known as “learning organizations...

...goal of many students, the learning process is also of equal importance Brinkworth first year experience - Brinkworth et al. state that" a successful transition [from high school to university] is not solely due to academic ability but depends also on the ability to make a rapid adjustment to a learning environment that requires greater autonomy and individual responsibility". (168) - This statement raises several question of whether there are other variables that could affect a student's success in the transition - The transition from high school to university is an emotionally taxing period for most students - students are confronted with a variety of challenges, including the need to make new relationships (especially if student attends a uni outside of his home town), modify existing relationships with parents and friends (more independent, and learn study habits for a relatively new academic environment (one that involves more independence). - Perhaps we may need to examine the relationship between a student's emotional competences and academic success. - students who can effectively manage stress and can quickly adjust to this new academic environment may be relatively more successful transitions than those who lack these skills. -The relationship between emotional intelligence and academic success also suggests that the way a student feels may influences how they perform academically (a student who is emotionally destabilized will tend to have......

...M2 – Compare the challenges to selected business activities within a selected organisation in two different economic environments The two contrasting environments I am going to look at are: 1) Economy in Growth –Economic growth is the increase in the market value of the goods and services produced by an economy over time. Economic growth can be measured by changes in inflation. Gross Domestic Product is used to measure population differences between countries. Tesco Stability - Stable economic conditions for Tesco means that they can make better informed decisions because there is more stability within the economy. If the economy in the UK is stable, Tesco’s are likely to have a higher turnover and be profitable therefore at a time like this Tesco may wish to introduce new lines, perhaps expand or find a city or town where they may wish to introduce new stores. Tesco suppliers will also benefit from this as they are supplying Tesco with more products and it will give them an idea if they need to increase their rates of production. If the economy is more stable then there will be steady growth in GDP, steady levels of employment and exchange rates. This means that Tesco will be more profitable as customers have more money to spend, they will need to employ for staff and it is better for the economy as Tesco can exports mass amount of home grown products cheaply. Cost of Borrowing Money – When the economy is stable Tesco will be able to borrow more finance if they wish...

...if the children’s yogurt market is expanding so they can decide whether it is a worthy investment. * What I would recommend would be to enter into option three with going with the children’s multi pack. First the children’s multi pack is certainly a competitive advantage for the company because now they are entering a different market where most of their competitors haven’t even touched yet. Also the market for these had grown to 12.5% since the previous year and it was forecasted that the gross profitability of multi packs was going to be 37.6%. Also it was stated in the case that the Natural Food Channel was expanding 7x faster than Super market channel, meaning that they can reach more of the customers in their own familiar environment. They already have a strong relationship with their Natural Food Channels and that is where their target market is. Also if the parents are consuming these organic yogurts they are most likely going to start purchasing these multi packs for their kids as well because they want them to enjoy a healthy snack. Plus I would also recommend that if they go with this option that they raise their prices slightly. The reason I say this is because the people who typically purchase these products have disposable income and are willing to pay for quality of the product. So raising their products prices wouldn’t a be bad idea and also implementing option 3 would certainly be a successful move for them....
