...Albatross Anchor Unit 6 Unit Six Written Assignment Ury Salinas MT435 Operations Management Introduction Question One Carefully review the assignment scenario/case study. From the limited information in the scenario/case study, along with your answers to the unit three written assignment, identify at least three direct and specific long-term and three direct and specific short term operations changes that Albatross Anchor must make to gain a clear and sustainable competitive advantage (provide detailed information to validate and support each recommended change) Long-Term Operational Changes (01) An improvement in technology can increase efficiency and effectiveness throughout the plant. It is obvious that technology changes at such a rapid rate, older technology can slow down or inhibit the manufacturing process, making it longer for the products to reach the consumer. A plan over the span of 3 to 5 years to update technology is realistic because it gives enough time for the updates to be made effectively. (02) The purchase of additional equipment can take away the need to share manufacturing equipment between the two different types of anchors. The new equipment should be top of the line, because this will not only fall in line with the upgrades to technology, but will be the most cost-effective. Time is what will be saved primarily, since the separate equipment will do away with the 36 hours that are needed during equipment change-overs between......

Unit 6 Assignment

...Terinie Williams Introduction to Management Unit 6 Assignment A control system consists of four steps. These steps are setting performance standards, measuring performance, comparing performance against the standards and determining deviations, and taking action to correct problems and reinforce success. First Lei should call a meeting with the employees to inform them what's going on. Lei should informed them about the company rules and regualtions, and about what is expected of them as the employees. She will need to achieve organizaional goals. Then she should give everyone a copy of the policy and procedures as well as an employee handbook for them to go over, and get an understanding of what is expected of them. Will need to come up with a solution in stopping employees from reporting extra time that they never did work. Performance standards can be set with respect to various measures of success such as quantity, quality, time used, and cost. When it comes to measuring performance, Lei should start measuring employees performance either by oral reports or personal observation. I think Lei will need to start observing the employees using personal observations to see if they are getting their job done properly and successfully. Lei should also do a written report after observing the employees to show them their peformance, and what is they are needing to improve. Awarding them for good work would increase leadership visibility. In comparing performance, Lei should...

...Assignment 6-1 AMGT390-F1WW (SU10) Justin Reed August 6, 2010 Professor Clark Lexi Electronics problem: Lexi Electronics is nearing completion of a two-year project to develop and produce a new digital phone. The phone is no bigger than a Popsicle stick but has all the features of a standard digital cellular phone. The assembly line and all the production facilities will be completed in 5 months. The first units will be produced in 8 months. The plant manager believes it is time to begin winding down the project. He has there methods in mind for terminating the project: extinction, addition, and integration. He is not sure which method is best. Question: Which of the three methods would you recommend, and why? (Mantel, Meredith, Shafer, & Sutton, 2007) Let’s first look at the books definition of each of these and this will help us to define which are the best for this scenario. First, we will look at termination-by-addition. This occurs when an “in-house” project is successfully completed and institutionalized as a new, formal part of the organization. This may take the form of an added department, division, subsidiary, or other such organization entity, depending on the magnitude of importance of the project. (Mantel, Meredith, Shafer, & Sutton, 2007) Although this seems like a good route to take for termination of this project, the fact that Lexi Electronics already is a producer of this type of item, and this is just a......

Unit 6 Assignment 1

...Unit 6 Assignment 1: Cable Testers In almost every application in dealing with cable installations, cable testing is a must. Some methods of testing cables include testing for attenuation, continuity testers, DC Resistance, a wire mapper and cable length. In all cable types- copper or fiber, 10BASE-T or 100BASEFX, the standards are constantly being changed and developed into a new standard for all future technologies. When testing cable, you can guarantee that the users will be satisfied when all connections prove effective for not just uninterrupted transmission but correct bandwidths to support. A wire mapper is the most common tool. It simply provides a test of a standard Cat5 cable to ensure each individual wire not only carries a strong signal through the entire length of the route, but it proves if each wire ends up in the correct pin number on the opposite end to receive the transmission. It will give the technician an idea if a cable has a short, or if it is a crossover cable. It is also very useful with telephone connections. It should be a part of each cable installation kit. Another common tool is a continuity tester. It shows if there is a direct connection between two points. If there is a closed electrical pathway for the tester to detect, then the device will make a sound. This is useful not only to test for a short, but also to determine and identify which cable is which in a closet full of many cables. This is also a very important tool in any......

Written Assignment 6

...Written Assignment 6: Workshop Training Proposal “Behold leaf cutter ants. At the command of their queen, the ants march in lockstep, cut leaves from rainforest trees, and, in a perfectly ordered line, carry the right number of tasty leaves in their mandibles back to the colony and their discerning queen” (Wetfeet, 2012). That is how Wetfeet, a career advice website, describes the role of a Supply Chain Account Manager. Supply Chain Account Managers keep the flow of goods streamlined from the beginning to the end just like how ants form a perfect formation to carry food from a source back to their nesting. The Supply Chain Account Manager position has two main functions: Sales and management. Supply Chain Account Managers proactively reaches out to businesses to help identify any gaps that may exist between the process of transporting goods from manufactures to consumers. After identifying the gaps, Account Managers then present solutions that streamlines the steps involving the movement of goods to create efficiency and improve company’s bottomline. Once the proposed solutions are implemented, the Account Manager then follows up with key stakeholders within the company to further build relationships to keep maintaining the efficiency of the company’s overall supply chain. As a veteran Supply Chain Account Manager, I am proposing a training workshop to better prepare new Account Managers to experience early success in their roles. The workshop will shorten......

Module 6 - Original Assignment

...BUSINESS ETHICS MODULE 6 M6 - ORIGINAL ASSIGNMENT Question: For over two hundred years, white males have been the most powerful group in the United States. Through economic exclusions, enforced by laws and reinforced by deep cultural attitudes, there has existed, in effect, a preferential hiring program for white males. In light of that historical reality and the dynamics that remain in our culture, evaluate the contemporary strategy of affirmative action for minorities to bring about more fairness in hiring and promotion practices. Draw heavily from the assigned readings and then explain and defend your arguments concerning affirmative action and "reverse discrimination." The fact that we are still talking about job discrimination, in the 21 century is really a sad thing. We have made amazing strides in all fields of science and medicine, we have the capability of having AI (artificial intelligence) and the ability to reach out and touch someone across continents in a matter of seconds via the internet. Yet, as a human race we have done very poorly in treating our fellow human with the dignity and respect we expect to be treated ourselves in return. If we were to do as Kant said, to treat “their ends as our end," we would all be treating each other impartially, (Shaw and Barry, 2013, pg. 90). But, since we are not, we are still having this dialogue. Affirmative action was brought upon by necessity. It was adopted in order to shift the balance toward......

...Kate Gagnon January 29, 2016 ENG 101 Assignment 6 Roozen’s quote, “practices employed in the invention and production of semiotic texts are not solely a product of a particular disciplinary setting, but rather from multiple engagements with texts” (160) is very meaningful and backed up through all of his research. What Roozen is saying is that signs and symbols are not restricted to one specific text but can be found across multiple or many. This is an important conclusion to come to because it can open one’s mind to think about something while they read many different texts and helps people relate the texts in different ways. Roozen also talks a lot about Lindsey and her editing process while she was writing her paper. She hand writes a lot of outlines and takes a bunch of detailed notes on her writing in order to make it better. Roozen’s quote was helpful to her while writing her paper because through all of her research she could take symbols that she found in all the texts she read and relate them. It is an important way of thinking while reading things so one can write a more enriched paper. Lindsey’s paper was on the feminist ideal and she used different texts like The Great Gatsby to write it. “Lindsey continued to weave these practices together s she refined her argument further, gradually creating a detailed outline that charted her discussion passage by passage (180). Roozen’s quote is very apparent t me while reading about Lindsey and how she wrote her......

Week 6 Assignment

...GM 592 Skill Development Assignment Week 6 Well the company that I work for is a high performance culture as for what is expected of its employees and the mission and values of the company. The slogan is the “customer is always right “. We have to bend over backwards sometime to satisfy the customer’s needs. However, if I was to look at everything internally I would say that it is a low performance culture because insular things and resistance to change. Management to me is a dictator ship when it comes down to making changes. The send out the e-mail of what is expected for us to do but they do not work in the stores or know how much extra time it will take to implement the changes. My current boss basically reads the e-mails tell us what they say and then it is just do it. He never questions the changes because for one there is nothing he can do about it but his approach is so dry to where I personally have some sort of resistance. Sometimes I feel that if those who come up with the plans for the changes were in practice they would grumble as well. Creating a strategy culture fit would be the leadership action used by my organization. Because I work in a pharmacy there is a lot of liability when we make mistakes with customer’s medication. A lot has to do with understanding the doctor’s writing and making the necessary phone calls to clear up any concern. Then the scanning of the bottles upon dispensing help with error of giving the patient the wrong medication......
