Human Resources Project – Barbers 1. Behavioral: What kind of personality do you work best with and why?
Situational: If a customer were unsatisfied with their haircut, how would you approach the situation?
Skill-Based: What parts of your education do you see as relevant to this position? 2. One test could be to have a volunteer customer to come in and receive a haircut and shave from the applicant. This would give the employer a good outlook on how the applicant would do with customers and display his or her skillsets. Another option could be to have the applicant cut, braid or fade a model mannequin head. This could be used if a volunteer customer was not available, and would again display the skillset of the applicant. 3. A current barber class would be best for employees to help him or her excel in the barber industry. The class could either be taken at a technical college or at the barbershop, with a teacher. It would consist of learning new styles and trends, also it could be used to relearn the techniques used in the barbershop. This would work best because trends are always changing and techniques can always be refreshed. 4. Two factors that would be best to evaluate in a barber would be active listening (giving full attention to what customers are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking appropriate questions, and not interrupting at inappropriate times) and social perceptiveness (being aware of others reactions and understanding why they react as they do).
