Life-Changing Prayers from the Bible

The Bible is our prayer book. We should not only read the word but also pray it. The Spirit uses the word to teach us how to pray, since we do not know how to pray as we ought (Rm 8:26). The following prayers are guaranteed by God to change lives because they are based on the word. Most of these prayers have been used for several years in evangelistic ministry. They have repeatedly put thousands of people in touch with the life-giving power of God. The prayer of a holy person "availeth much" (Jas 5:16 KJV). Never underestimate the power of a simple heart-felt prayer. Pray God's word, and see God's power.

Don't read this book. Let the Spirit pick out one prayer for you to pray. Let the Spirit take you through this book, prayer by prayer, over a period of months or years.

To Work or Not to Work

...To work or not to work – That is the question: Whether ‘Tis politer in the mind to tolerate the insults And listen to the complaints of annoying customers, Or to resign from my job entirely And by quitting, rest or study for school. To work, to quit— No more—and by showing up to work I face The same old same old preparations for customers That each day holds.—‘Tis a situation I do not wish to face. To work, to quit— To quit, perhaps to rest. Ay, there’s the problem, For in quitting what events may come about When we have no money to have fun Must make us all think. That’s the thought That makes disaster of an invite to a Girls Night Out. For who really wants to work a long 8 hour shift, Deal with the annoyance of refolding clothes, the crabby managers, The disappointment of an empty break room, the cheapness of supplies, The overly dramatic co-worker, and the grimacing looks That the customers send my way when looking at their totals, When they too, may work And go through the same things I have to? Who would want this, To walk in the same exact steps every day, But the dread of being broke, The thought of spending weekends alone or The realization of the fact that we don’t have a life, Wishing that we did have some sort of job for cash Instead of seeking those wasted days of being lazy? Thus the chance of missing out on a fun night does make us want to work, And thus happiness of being with friends Is tainted by thoughts of how I cannot afford...

Four Day Work Week

...THE FOUR DAY WORK WEEK: Just how effective is it? DOES THE FOUR DAY WORK WEEK LEAD TO INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY? Yasin Mohammed UMUC AMBA 600 Research Paper Abstract The 4 day work week is not a new idea. It is one that has had its share of controversies over the years. Introduced in the 1970’s the idea of the 4 days work week has been making a comeback as of lately. There are several issues to look at here. One of the main statements in regards to it is that productivity will decrease because of fatigue. A 10 hour work day is too long. On the flipside, another of the main issues pointed out by proponents is that productivity will increase because you will have a workforce with higher morale. In this paper, we will discuss these two issues among others in relation to the effectiveness of the 4 day work week. JUST HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE FOUR DAY WORK WEEK Proponents of the four day work week usually state the benefit of work/family balance as one of the main reasons that it should be implemented. They estimate that this balance will lead to happier employees which will lead to increased productivity. Most of the detractors state the long ten hour work days as the main reason why employees will be too tired and fatigued to perform. How can two such different viewpoints arise from the same set of circumstances? It is essential to point out that both of these positions are made with assumptions of a homogenous workforce that requires the same work/life balance......

Day to Day Effects

...Extra Credit 1 Every day, every minute, in fact every second, we are interacting and building connections with everything we see and do. For this assignment, I want to focus on my encounter with Starbucks staff. I probably am one of the biggest Starbucks fanatic anyone will every encounter. I love the thrill of going to Starbucks, and anticipating and thinking about what my new Starbucks concoction will be. Reflecting upon my Starbucks experiences, I have come to a conclusion of whether we know it or not, our unintended communications turn into a relationships that we fail to see. To test my thinking and prove it valid, I went to the Starbucks that I have been going to for years now. Here goes my thoughts, “What do I order? What am I feeling today? What is the new drink that came out?”. As I walked in, I examined the same feeling of thrill and excitement that rushes upon me. As I wait in the long, almost endless lines at Starbucks, I especially examine other people’s orders and get inspired for my order. As the line lessens, I am finally able to reach upon my decision of my order. Instantly, the woman taking my order my order found me quit familiar and said, “hello, how’s your day today? Would you like chai latte or caramel macchiato?” and I found it surprising on how she knew exactly what I want. Reflecting upon the situation, I realize how going to Starbucks often, I run into the same people, the same staff and essentially built a relationship that we don’t realize.......

A Day of Nothing and a Day of Activity

...A Day of Nothing and a Day of Activity From what I can recall, I did nothing of particular interest on February 8, so I shall elect to skip talking about it. To make up for the lack, I shall write an excruciatingly long entry for today. As is typical of an exchange student at Kansai Gaidai, I awoke only to begin my journey over to my Japanese class. In class, we played 'Who's Pen Is This?' in order to practice our previously learned grammar lesson. Next, we planned a pretend trip in order to practice another grammar lesson. Finally, we learned a new grammar point before departing. My next activity was to wait 40 minutes so that I could meat Saki and Chiaki again for lunch. This time, I brought my laptop along so that I could share photographs from back home. While waiting, I was joined by Wayne, a Chinese student who I had previously met, and Keisuke. At first, Keisuke swore that Wayne was a Japanese person, but after some effort to convince him otherwise, he believed that he was not. Come 11:30, I took my leave from the boys to join the girls in the cafeteria. Since it was rainy and drab awful outside today, Saki and Chiaki were waiting inside the cafeteria instead of the outside area where they usually wait. After getting food, we ate and talked some. Once finishing, we made our way to the CIE lounge so I could plug in my laptop and begin the show. A wise move plugging it in, I might add, as the presentation lasted about four hours. I began by showing pictures of my......

...way. Until 1980 homosexuality was considered a psychological disorder but is considered acceptable today. This is a weakness because it means abnormality cannot be judged across eras. Another definition is failure to function adequately. Under this definition a person is considered abnormal if they are unable to cope with the demands of everyday life. They may be unable to perform the behaviours necessary for day to day living e.g. self-care, holding down a job, interacting meaningfully with others and making themselves understood. Rosenhan and Seligman suggested characteristics that define failure to function adequately. These were: suffering, maladaptiveness, vividness and unconventionality, unpredictability and loss of control. A limitation of this definition is that it is not always negative as it may actually be helpful for the individual. For example, a person who has OCD may find that washing their hands makes them feel cheerful, happy and better able to cope with their day. This shows that abnormalities can have positive effects in order to deal with day to day life. Another limitation is that there is no way of classifying what is abnormal behaviour and what isn’t under this definition. This is because many people engage in behaviour that is maladaptive and harmful or even threatening to self, but we don’t class them as abnormal. Examples of this include adrenaline sports, smoking, drinking alcohol and skipping classes. The last definition is deviation from......

Day-to-Day Stress

...Day-to-Day Stress Omar R. Hameen GEN/200 May 17, 2011 Barbara Alston Day-to-Day Stress In the following paper I would like to talk about a problem that causes stress my daily life. I will describe how to gather information to help me solve this problem and where the information can be obtained. In this paper I will talk about my experiences and how I deal various forms of stressors at home and in social settings. Daily stress Stress is a term used by many, is severly misunderstood, and often used to describe a negative condition or emotional state. It is our biological way of dealing with sudden changes in our life. The biggest stressor for me is fatigue.   Most days, my morning starts around 10 a.m.   By 11 a.m., I’m hurrying to the store to grab an energy drink then back home to work on school assignments and apply for jobs online.   At 12 a.m. I start my “work day”, which typically requires cleaning, preparing my daughter for school, and taking care of any outside work that needs to be done.   I usually find myself leaving home at 5 p.m. and heading to pick up my daughter from daycare.   Whether we go to the park, play some type of sports in the yard, or go on a bike ride; I spend the next 3 hours running around behind my 4 year old daughter, using my last bit of stored energy. When our playtime is done we head inside to do her school work and other learning activities.   Spending family time is important, so usually its dinner and a movie until...

My First Day at Work

...The familiar ringing tone of my alarm pierced through my fading dreams as I woke up with a start. The day had finally come. I was going to start working. To many, including myself it was a surprise. But what was more surprising was the sudden gush of emotions I felt. I was excited about discovering the new phase of my life, feared the unexpected and sensed a feeling of loss and nostalgia. The walls of my room seemed to hold no answers to the innumerable questions that crossed my mind as I sat staring into the distance deep in thought. Hearing my mother call out to me, I finally dragged myself out of bed and noticed the neatly ironed shirt and pair of trousers that she had carefully picked out and smiled to myself. That morning my appetite had deserted me. After a string of advices I finally left home. The cab was late by twenty minutes. As I reached, it was an eight-story building and the atmosphere of the corporate world that seemed like a shroud around it that greeted me. It was lunchtime and the crowd seemed to be getting bigger as I stood there waiting for the lift. And unfortunately that day only two of the four lifts seemed to be working. Finally the lift opened up to the fifth floor and I walked to the Security Desk where I met my batch mates. They seemed as perplexed and nervous as I was. The Security Guard clad in a blue uniform directed us a room and I managed to seat myself on the first bench. Unknown faces surrounded me and I was glad that Neil, one of my best......

That Day

...Life Changing Experiences By: Olivia Son Growing up in the country you could always find me outside playing with my friends or relatives. We would literally go outside the moment we woke up and would not come back inside until bedtime. Between riding four-wheelers, jumping on trampolines, and having mud fights you never knew what we might me getting into that day. I had my share of bumps and bruises along the way but I would not have changed a single minute of it. We all grow up thinking that we are invincible until something happens in your life that changes all that. I remember that day as if it were yesterday. It was a hot summer day just like any other and I was your typical fourteen-year-old girl who wanted to spend all her free time hanging out with her boyfriend. This day was no different. I woke up that morning and of course could not wait to spend time with him. Therefore, I rushed through breakfast and did everything that my mom had asked me to do before he was allowed to come over. Finally, he was at my house and we were deciding what we might get into. It was so hot outside so we decided that we would go swimming and ride my four-wheeler. We figured we would going four-wheeler riding first that way if we got dirty we could just jump into the pool when we got back and wash off. So we changed into our swim suits and headed out. Looking back wearing only a swim suit and flip flops to go riding might not of been the best idea but it was something......

I am participating at the handover, is important to join the handover in the morning because I need to be informed if are any issues with the residents I am going to work with. I am going to check the allocation with the team leader, it is important to find out if I have to escort a resident to hospital or I am working on the floor and which residents I am allocated to. I check the residents if they are alright and after I start the breakfast. Every day I do the menu for the next day, I ask for their opinion, I read for them what is on the menu for the next day. After I finish breakfast, I start personal care, I respect every resident needs, sometimes they refuse the personal care in the morning, they prefer to have a shower in the evening. Before giving personal care I explain to them what I will be doing. I explain each step along the way, especially if it is their first time with me. Respecting their privacy and dignity will help make it a soothing and comfortable experience for them. Personal care is an opportune time to observe the condition of their body for any redness, tenderness or painful areas. An important thing is to have everything I need within easy reach before giving personal care. I adjust the room temperature so it is warm and comfortable; I close the......

Good Day vs Bad Day

...GS1145 Bendall Short Answer 5.1 Good Day vs Bad Day Breckinridge School of Nursing Barbara Walker Abstract Anyone working as a nursing assistant has chosen a very challenging path. Poor compensation, workplace politics, short staffing, conflict between coworkers, irate and difficult residents, miscommunication, heavy lifting and the loss of those for whom we care all make for a tough work environment. I definitely have locked myself in the linen closet to get myself together moments. So, why do I keep coming back? Why do I stay? First of all, I embrace the challenge. I thrive on it. In my life, it is a rare and beautiful thing to be able to bring order to chaos rather than the other way around. I work at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital and I have to say, the patients inspire me every day. We have a variety of patients; with cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, dementia, brain and spinal cord injuries and just knee or hip replacements that still laugh and love and find joy in nothing short of amazing. It’s such an incredible gift to be a part of their lives…to walk them through the tough days and celebrate with them during their triumphs. They have shown me the uselessness of the word impossible. They all touch my heart, and I hope I touch their heart too. Good Day vs Bad Day I have to say that I’m proud of the work that I do. Nursing assistants come in all shapes and sizes. We are both male and female. Our Physical appearances are different...

First Day at Work

...forward to the first day of work at a new job there are new people to me, much to learn, and money to be made. While I 'd had other jobs prior to starting my last job, nothing could have prepared me for the type of work environment that I encountered when I walked in to begin my employment. The first day of my job at a fast food restaurant was less than pleasing; and I believe that I am not the only one who felt this way. First of all, I didn’t 't like my job because I had no much experience and no one who was working the shift that I was to be trained on was my age. Everyone was much older and more experienced than I. I knew that if I had to work with these people every day that I would hate it. There would be nothing to talk about and we would have nothing in common. They would always be telling me what to do and calling me “young one” or something like that. I was not looking forward to working with them, but to do my best because I needed money. The other thing I did not like about my new job was my manager. This guy thought he was the commander in chief of the restaurant and barked out commands at people like he was a drill sergeant. He made one lady cry needless to say, I was not looking forward to spending my days with him after watching this take place and that push me even more to do my job, not just my job but right; My thoughts where on not to be in her shoes never and wonder if I it was my best choice. __I felt lonely and help less. Somewhere that day I felt......
